If you should have an automo bile accident but aren't certain whether an accident report is mandatory, please be advised that it is. All accidents must be reported. however trivial. And this involves accidents on private property, such as a parking lot, and accidents in volving parked cars without a driver or occupants. So says James F. Johnson, di rector of the State Department of Motor Vehicles in a letter to all police departments and sheriffs of fices in Oregon. The question arose in Klamath Falls regarding accidents involving parked cars. Johnson was asked to interpret the law. He felt the issue was sufticiently important to distribute his answer to all state and local law enforcement officers. The details of the question in volve minor legal technicalities, but what they amount to is that the chapter of Oregon Law must be interpreted as written "except where the context otherwise re quires." Certainly, Johnson said, the con text makes no exceptions for parked cars and private property The rule to remember: Report all accidents. Johnson also said the fact that a police oflicer investigates an aC' cident and makes his own report does not relieve the drivers in volved of making their reports. And they must be made within 24 hours. Rummage Sale The Klamath Saddle Club will have a rum mage sale Saturday, October 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 806 Mam ath Avenue.
