Dearborn, Route 1, Bonanza, has completed eight weeks of Army basic training at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Dearborn was graduated from Bonanza High School in 19S6 and from OTI in 1958. Paratrooper Pfc. Kenneth H. Tannehill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth B. Tannehill, Route 3, Yreka, is taking parachute jump training in Munich, Germany. Tan nehill, 21, was graduated from Mount Shasta High School in 195b and entered the Army in Marcn, 1957. Service Graduate Pvt. Harold GLENN E. SMILEY Local Church To Hear Talk "Love, the Greatest Power." will be the topic of an address to be given by Glenn E. Smiley, national field secretary, Fellowship of Rec onciliation, at the Congregational Church October 7. Time for the meeting is 7:45 p.m. The speaker has traveled and lectured in 10 countries including Europe, Mexico, Canada and the United Stales. Having lived in the Southern states he has taken an active part in the struggle for in tegration of Negroes for the last three years, holding workshops on non-violence in Montgomery, Tal lahassee, Columbia and Nashville, and the upper South. He Is a Texan, and a Methodist minister, served for 10 years in Arizona as a pastor and four years in that capacity in Califor nia before joining the staff of the Fellowship of Reconciliation. Co-sponsors of his visit include the Klamath Council of Churches, the Klamath Falls Chapter NAACP and the Unitarian Fellow ship of Klamath County. The public is invited to hear the speaker. E. Kerr. 23, so of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Kerr, Route 6, Lake view, has been graduated from an Army course on food inspection procedures. A graduate of Lake view High School and Oregon State College, Kerr entered tne Army in November, 1957. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Dye of Bonanza were Mrs. Dye's brothers, Charles Hooper and Clyde Hooper, 01 ua-kersfield. Home Mr. and Mrs. Clay Walker have returned to their home in Langell Valley after vis iting their daughters and families in Eugene. Bonanza Mrs. Nellie Haley of Ashland is visiting her sons, Ce cil and Oliver of Bonanza, Llell of Langell Valley and Perry of Malin, and their families. Housecucsls at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Sullivan of Lan cell Valley are Mrs. Sullivan's mother. Mrs. Nellie ouick ot la- coma and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Gale of New York. Returned Jack Kelly has re turned to his home in Bonanza aft er several days in Hillside Hospital where he received medical care. Successful The coffee hour given September 26 for the bene fit of the Bonanza library fund by Mrs. Owen Pepple and Mrs. Don Schooler, was a success. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mis. Doug Smelccr of Langell Valley were Mrs. Mil dred Johnson of Quincy and Mr, and Mrs. John Smclcer of Duns muir. Returned Mr. and Mrs. George H. Shaw and Johnnie have relumed to Langell Valley after attending the wedding of their son, Jimmy, to Donna Koehler in Philomath on September 28. The Jimmy Shaws will live in Philomath. To Country Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harris and family have moved from Chiloquin to a house on the Crater Lake Highway just north of Klamath Agency. Recuperating Mrs. Neil Neil son, Chiloquin, is recuperating from a siege of illness which hos pitalized her for several days re cently. She hopes to be able to re turn to work in a drug store in Chiloquin soon. Bonanza Women's Club will meet at the library October 7 at p.m. A representative from the Red Cross in Klamath Falls will attend to see about the club and the Bonanza Rebekah Lodge spon soring the blondmobile October 28. Potluck Supper Set By Church MERRILL A potluck supper is scheduled lor 6:30 on Sunday, Oc tober 5, at the First Prcsbytcri an Church in Merrill. This will give the public an opportunity to hear Jack and Mary Lue Brooks, radio missionaries with the Far East Broadcasting Company. Tho Brooks' will use tape re cordings and slides along with their lecture. After a visit during the month of October in Oregon, they will travel to Okinawa to open a missionary station. Everyone is welcome and urged to attend.
