Fire Chief Hoy Rowe said Thursday morniiif. Replying to reports that smok ing had been prohibited in that Fill ire area, Rowe said that the problem has existed for a couple ol months, dating from the time it was first discovered that gaso line was seeping into the base ment. The seepage was traced to a riearbv service station, which in stalled a new tank, apparently solving the problem. However, more gasoline has seeped in. and the fire department, with the co onoration of all service stations in the area, is conducting tests to discover the present source of tht gas.
