COCA-COLA GOES With Everything You Eat and here it is ihown "going with" Corn
Cob Sticki, Cherry Splashed Salad and a cottage cheese-pickle dip for the hot corn
ticks. Here is a table full of food for a hot day or a cold one or any time ,you feel
the urge to eat food with a tempting taste. J
BACK TO SCHOOL planning is well underway and excit
ing new tweed fashions and Tweed Fragrance combine
to get the school year off to a wonderful start. There's
more to school than learning your ABC's. To really pass
your entrance exams you have to know your "T's" this
year. And, for those who haven't heard, "T" stands for
Tweed, the new combination look and scent for fall.
Tweed fashions for co-eds are shown here. See the fab
ulous Tweed Fragrance by Lentheric at your favorite cos
metic counter. No matter which form of the fragrance
you wear, the combination is irresistable.
TWEED
Tweed is definitely the indisput
able "back to school" look, scent
and feel for fall.
To present this Important new
thrce-pronued concept, the fashion
and fragrance worlds have moved
together in unparalleled unison.
The most exciting news revolves
around a group of famous design
ers. Led by Modern Junior, Tu
dor Square, Linker, Jack Winter,
Junior Accent and Lawlord Fab
rics, thev have combined talents
to create a group of irresistible
tweeds based on the premise that
Tweed fragrance is "the" invisible
accessory whicn is nnsoiuieiy
necessary to complete each cos
tume. Cnsn. sparkling refreshing . . .
Tweed by Lentheric personifies
the mood and spirit of the sea
son. Available in every fragrance
form imaginable . . . peilume
cologne, hath powder, toilet water,
aerosol mist, hair spray, sham
poo, etc. . . . Tweed accents the
many looks of fashion and lends
that air of subtle femininity, which
is so essential to the final ef
fect a costume must give.
In this vital new concept, It is
suggested that not only do fashion
and fragrance complement each
other pefectly, but the eflect of
wearing the rignt tragrance,
like lipstick, can actually make
the "difference" between a cos
tume's success or failure.
Take advantage of this provoca
tive dimension. For fall . . . look
to Tweed in fashion and fra
grance. The combination is de
signed to make "Wonderful Things
Happen."
HOUSEHOLD HINTS
If you need a new spatula or
oancake turner, look for ilexibie
metal with smooth finish so food
won't stick to the utensil. Han
dles should be long enough to
keep your hands away from the
heat when you are using tbem
Kitchen forks should have long
tapered tines with a smooth finish
so foods can be pierced without
tearing.
Pouring lips on pans ana ladles
should be on two sides and the
lip should have a sharp edge to
be dripless.
Handles on all housewares are
more convenient it tney nave
loops or perforations so they can
be hung.
For the bride s kitchen shower,
don't overlook the wonderful new
measuring spoons with long han
dles that will reach down lo the
bottom of the baking powder can
or package of soda. You can't
tell, maybe tne girt wilt really
want to cook.
REVIVE ROSES
Reams have been written on the
care of flowers when you pick
them. Margaret Spader, home
service editor of the Gas Appli
ance Manufacturers Association,
says that cut roses that wilt pre
maturely can be revived with hot
water treatment.
First you make a slanting cut
an inch or so from the base of
the stem. Plunge the stems into
boiling hot water, then dip them
quickly into cold water. '
The water drives off any air
bubbles which may have formed
in the water conducting system of
the plant, according to her the
ory. This permits cold water to
rise and revive the flower.
Miss Spader warns that this
treatment will not revive old flow
ers which have been wilted for
several hours.
RECIPE FOR CLEAN OVEN
If your oven is greasy and
spotted after a big baking session,
let it cool, then give it this treat
ment: Mix one cup of household
ammonia with three quarts of boil
ing water and set in the oven for
three hours. Remove the ammonia
mixture and wash off the racks
walls and oven door with soap and
warm water. The grease and spots
will come off like magic when
pretreated with the ammonia
water mixture.
SNACKTIME !
A cold beverage makes a hot
dish that much more delightful.
Drink iced Coke with this meal for
its cold, tempting, refreshing taste
with finger foods and salad.

SEASONING
Don't rely entirely on seasonings
out of a bottle or can for your
meat pie or meat loaf. The juices
left in the broiler pan from the
steak or hamburger patties the
meal before are flavorful. If you
don't make gravy from the juices
from a pot roast, put them in a
covered jar in the refrigerator to
use for future seasonings. If you
don't have any extras to add, use
a couple of bouillon cubes to give
that full-bodied flavor that makes
the difference between a mediocre
and a really good dish.
Stuff dates with fudge and roll
in confectioners sugar. Sweet but
good!
Some directions for butter sponge
cakes tell you to beat the eggs
and sugar in Ihe top of a double
boiler over simmering water. Make
absolutely sure your double boiler
regular or improvised i really
large enough lo hold the mixture
as it increases in volume.

DIETER'S SALAD
Instead of using an oil dressing
on crisp shredded lettuce or new
cabbage, spoon pineapple juice
over the greens. Pineapple chunks
with the greens are good, too.
W hen using the pineapple-cabbage
combination, sprinkle celerv salt
on the salad instead of salt and
pepper.
