food line now has dozens of varieties of food for the baby

of the family is getting the most possible nourishment to
develop robust health and a sturdy body.
MEAT LOAF
Want your meat loaf to be moist-
and fluffier? Then allow the
ground meat to stand in the liquid
for a few minutes so that it
will absorb as much as possible
before adding the bread crumbs.

BABY FOOD
Baby moons and rocketi hav
been much in the news of late,
but the scientific and technological
developments closest to a mother's
heart are those which contribute
to the h e a 1 1 h and well-being of
her children. Pediatricians and
tritionisls are conducting never end-
ins researcn covering all phases
of infant growth and development.
A great deal has been learned al
ready. It has been found that youngstere
have such a tremendous amount of
growing to do that they need the
body building properties which
complete meat protein can supply
so aDunoanuy. Doctors have found
that meat-fed babies sleep better,
have a greater resistance to colds
and have a higher blood hemoglob.
in level which is indicative of good
health.
These were some of the reasoni
why Swift & Company pioneered
a complete line of strained and
chopped meats (or babies and jun
iors. They introduced beef, pork,
lamb, veai, heart, liver, ham, and
chicken prepared with care es
pecially (or the "carriage" trade.
Later egg yolks and egg yolks with
bacon were added to the line both
as sources of good nutrition (or
the youngster and as a convenience
to the mother.
Some youngsters take to the dis
tinctive goodness of meat right
away. Others are more reluctant to
accept changes and additions to
their diet. This is the reason that
the new Fruit-Flavored Meats (or
Babies have made such a hit with
mothers and children alike. In ad
dition to tasting good, the ham
flavored with raisin sauce, lamb
flavored with mint and pork flav
ored with applesauce are combina
tions of foods and flavors that the
child will meet often as he grows
older. Babies that know and like
a wide variety of foods are less
apt to have feeding problems later
in lite.
Strained chicken has been one
of the most popular of the meats
(or babies. This makes it an ideal
choice (or combining with new food
flavors. There are three new chick
en varieties which are designed to
do just this without adding to the
task of a busy mother. They are
Chicken a la King, Chicken with
Sweets and Chicken wirh Rice.
Because these new meat meals
contain such 'a small percentage
of extra ingredients, baby gets
full benefit of the complete meat
protein.
Add mashed hard-cooked eggs ts
mashed cooked chicken livers plus
seasonings (or a nutritious sand
wich spread.
