PHONE TU 4-3183 m mm mm mw Business Up A healthy increase in Klamath Falls business activity for the month of July was noted today by Ihe Klamath County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber, in its current is sue of Klamath Keynotes, report ed that business in five general categories thowed increases over PAGE 6 A July a year ago. The largest increase was in bank debits, a widely used business ac tivity index. Debits for last month amounted to $28,835,017, compared with debits of $111,828,137 for July 1957. Other reports for July 1958, with July 1957 figures in parentheses: Postal receipts, $27,475 S24,337; parking meters $5,084 ($5,033); building permits within city lim its, $1!.949 ($148,325); water us ers, 9,012 (8,9151. Also during July: Thirty seven new families, with 74 adults and 32 children, were welcomed to the city. Twelve fam ilies came from California, 10 from other Oregon communities, eight from Washington, and one each from Japan, England and five other slates. Five new members joined the chamber: Fred E. Sheriffs Aide Resigns Post YUEKA After serving in the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office for seven years as an undershcr- Iff, George Munich resigned his po sition, his reason being "too many Hours and not enough pay. ' Banich, before joining the sher iff's office personnel in January of 1!I52. was a special agent for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 1H years, and was assistant division special agent for the Shasta Di vision for 10 years. Sheriff Al Cottar stated that no one has been selected as yet to succeed Banich. Pay scale for the job ranges from $436 to $530, and Banich, at the time of his resignation was receiving $458.
