: GIRLS' WOOL COAT COLLECTIONS:
Wide Varieties In Classic Styles
As Well As In High-Fashion Themes
Mothers need not fret about t
one-year fashion of girls' coa
Classic or high style, good wo
coats have been sensibly design;
with expandable grow feature.
This year's coat is planned to f
a growing girl next year.
. The straighter chemise an
flared trapeze silhouettes hav
i been a boon to designers of chi
drens' coats. By skipping waist
. lines and lowering belts, thesi
coats need not be discarded nex
year. Less-fitted lines are com
fortable and promise to fit foi
more than one season.
Makers of classic "boy" coats
have also kept abreast of the
need of clothes that grow with
the child. By incorporating a
completely finished extra hem,
- mothers can lengthen a coat two
' inches by simply pulling a thread
Movable buttons and adjust
able belts are also features of
the classic coat, providing impor
tant "extras" in the purchase of
a wool coat.
The wearable qualities of all
- wool are a prime consideration
when planning children's ward
robes. Warm wool coatings with
. good linings and inter-linings of
wool are important for cold
: weather wear. It has been shown
, that fewer colds and winter ill
ness result when a child is warm-
' dressed for school and play.
Wool coals are a wise selection,
armth, wearability, a natural
sistance to wrinkling and datr.p-
ess assure protection. Newly de-
eloped style features provide
atisfactlon, making children's
oats of wool a lasting invest-nent.

Sewing Machine Can
Be Gals' Best Friend
Gifts for 'the school-bound are
either the small, inexpensive, al-
wavs-welcome accessory, or the
bigger, more important necessity
that lasts through school years
and into their chosen careers.
In this latter category, a gift
gaining in importance is the port
able electric sewing machine.
Budget wise coeds have always
known that they can give free
reign to their imagination in
creating school and play clothes
that are smartly different with
the aid of a sewing machine.
Home economics and design
classes have served as an in
spiration for many teen-agers
who take pride in creating their
own wardrobes. These much-admired
girls are never at a loss
for a new dress, and usually
have an enviable wardrobe for a
modest Investment.
Pattern-makers have kept pace
with this demand, and have made
patterns in the very latest youth
ful styles.
College girls have found that a
portable sewing machine is a fine
way to pick up extra cash. In
any dorm or boarding house tnere
are always hems to be shortened,
and small alterations to be made.
Just post your fee schedule and
follow through I
The knowledge of sewing gained
in their scnooi years wiu stand
every girl in good stead whether
she goes on to homemaking or a
career.
As you can see a portable elec
tric sewing machine is a "now"
and "later gift that she II derive
benefits from for years to come.

Camp Fire Girls in more than

country will also take part in a

year this was "Meet the People,"
an outgrowth of the president s

The girls prepared photographic
exhibits of their home communi

acquaint youth in foreign lands
with typical American life. This
year's project will have its kick-
off early in November.
Founded in 1910, the organlza-
tion is pledged to serve all girls
regardless of race, creed or eco

based on a love of the home and
the out-of-doors.
Camp Fire Girls offers a chal

are needed to bring the program
to the many girls who want and
need it.

There's New Look
And New Lengths
In New Male Coats
How do you like your top coat
short, medium or long?
You can have all three and be
well-dressed for all occasions. The
fingertip-length coat" is still tre.
mendously popular and gives lots
of use for knockabout. They fit
well over bulky knit sweaters
when there's a real chill! Among
the best are the wool meltons and
the tweeds.
And for extra warmth, you
might like one with a bulky knit
shawl collar that lies flat or pops
up at command to comfort the
neck.
The ideal medium length coat
is the camel-color all-wool knee
length American warmer that will
be seen everywhere this fall.
Double-breasted, with straight
back, and sometimes sporting a
ticket pocket, it looks sporty for
campus wear, jaunty with a suit.
The polo coat is good fashion
this fall and represents the long
er length coat, along with the
tweedy balmacaans. In camel-color,
the belted polo coat is a middle-of-the-road
sort of coat; not
so sporty as the tweedy balma
caan, which Is, of course, very
ncht for campus casual wear.
and not so snappy as the trim
Chesterfield which is used strict
ly for dress-up.
THE HEADACHE BAND

with the revolutionary
change in fashions. It's a
eirelet of chiffon enter

your curls in place, or a
pony tail if you pleasel Use
it at a collar on a basic
date dress.

The rewards for eating a good
breakfast are a feeling of well'
being, faster reactions, less mus
cle fatigue and improved ability
to concentrate.
Some of the tolls paid for neg.
lecting or skimping on breakfast
are a dull headache, cross-patch
temper, lowered efficiency and in
creased muscular fatigue.
It has been proven without
doubt that low grades in school
can often be attributed to the
poor, or worse yet, no breakfast-
at-all habit.
A good breakfast provides from
i to 1-3 of an individual's daily
food requirements. It combines
appetite and eye appeal with top
nutritive value. It's been found
that nutrients missed during this
morning meal can seldom be
made up during the day.
