POSTAL RECEIPTS UP
Postal receipts at the Klam
ath Falls Post Office showed near-
' l.v a 13 per cent increase over
the July, 1957, figures, Assistant
rostmaster Harold Hicks reports.
The 1958 figure was $27,474.82,
while that of 1957 was $24,337.49.
Hicks said that part of this in
crease was probably accounted for
by stamp purchases in anticipation
of the higher postage rates which
went into effect August 1. The
June, 1958, figure of $24,4B4.25
showed a decrease of over three
per cent from the 1957 figure.
Womer said in commenting on his
new appointment.

cial Security Administration since
1939 and was annotated district
manager of Klamath Falls in Oc

Crater Lake Visitors Up
July travel figures for Craterl
Lake National Parle were released
this week by Jack Rroadbent, chief
ranger at the park.
During the month just past, 28,-
3 cars came to the park bring
ing a total of 108.034 visitors. The
number of visitors during July
represents an increase of 7.4 per
cent over last year and a de

Cumulative totals for this year
show 168.279 visitors to date, an
increase of 3.7 per cent over last
year and a decrease of 4.5 per cent
from tft.
Work is going forward on the
new Standard Oil service station
at park headquarters and the
nearhy dormitory for Standard Oil
employes, Broadbent said.
The paving at the Annie Spring
intersection and the paving of
the utilities area is still at a
standstill, however, he said. Crews
were pulled off those Jobs on Sat-
urflay, July 19. as the operating
engineers' strike against members
of Associated General Contractors
spread throughout the state.
Other construction work planned
for the park under Mission 68 pro.
gram includes letting of contracts
for construction of a covered en
tranceway to the administration
building. The job requires consid
erable concrete work. Broadbent
indicated that the construction of
rest room facilities at the Mazama
campgrounds and the new entry
station at Annie Spring will prob
ably not be affected by the strike.
