AUGUST 3. 1953 sV- fr Jm-Wi 4 , 4 -nerr BRIDAL SHOWER In honor of Virginia (Ginger) Marti, who was married to Allen Vawter at St. Paul's Episcopal Church last evening at an 8 o'clock ceremony, was given by Mrs. Con Borsting and Mrs. John Robinson at Mrs. Borsting's home in the Weyer haeuser Townsite recently. About 35 guests attended the affair in honor of the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence R. Martz of the Weyerhaeuser Road. Allen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vawter of Sunnyside, Washington. THE TEA TABLE at Ginger Marti' shower was attractively decorated with cakes made in the form of a bride and her wedding party bridesmaids. The cakes, made and decorated by a friend, Mrs. George Kovich, were built around dolls dressed as a bride and her attendants. A background of pink candles and blush pink roses formed the letting for the clever conversation piece. Malin Girl Honored With Bridal Shower MALIN Honored at a bridal hower on July 10 was Belly Bun nell who became the bride of Rod ney Ottoman July 26 in the Malin Presbyterian Church. Assisting Betty in opening the many lovely gifts she received were her mother, Mrs. J. A. Bun nell, and sister, Shirley. The guests enjoyed an entertaining skit written by Mrs. Hab Wilson along the theme of the TV show "To Tell the Trulh." The refreshment table was most attractively decorated with a floor length pale pink table cloth fes tooned with bunches of flowers. The top of the table was outlined with deep pink carnations and sweet peas and dolls dressed like bride and her atendants com pleted the charming effect. Mrs. Karl hujac did the refreshment table and also a lovely floral ar rangement on the gift table. Hostesses for the affair were Mrs. Loyal Saunders; Mrs. Lewis Kandra. Mrs. Louiei Lyon. Mrs. Ron McVay. Mrs. Carlo Cornell, Mrs. Joe Micka, Mrs. Dorothy Unruh, Mrs. Jerry Micka. Mrs. Hab Wilson. Mrs. Joan Haskins, and Mrs. Dick Derry. Layette Shower MONTAGUE White gladioli and sweet peas decorated the A g e r ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meek, when Mrs. Meek was host ess for a layette shower given in honor of Mrs. Geraldine Fchlman by the Willow Creek Club. The evening was spent in play ing whist, followed with presenta tion ot guts to the bonoree. Linda Hughes emerged as first prize winner of the evening play; second prize went to Helen Rich ardson, consolation prize to Donna Mays; and a special prize was won Dy Irene Davis. Present in addition to those men tioned were Hilda Cooley, Etta En- sele, Diane Fehlman, Lynn Fehl man. Marlyn Fitzgerald, Edythe foster, faiistine Hughes, Edith and Donna Mays, June Severans. Lakeview Visitors EASTSIDE - Visitors at the Eastside District home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Combs and the Lakeview home of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Riley are Lt. Col. and Mrs. Paul Rilev and three children, Dennis, Jimmy and Patty. Col. Riley is a brother of Mrs. Combs and Oliver Rilev. jne coionei is retiring from the Army after serving 22 years and six months with active duty in both noria war 11 and the Korean War. His last assignment was at Fort Lewis, Washington. He enlisted in January, 1MB, in Lakeview and re ceived his commission as a second lieutenant in 1912. Lt. Col. an Mrs. Riley and their family will make their home in Yakima. Washington. Army Officer, German Bride At Reception ALTURAS-The Orville D. Aus tin ranch home was the setting for a late afternoon reception on Friday, July 25, for the Austin's eldest son Lt. Kenneth Blaine Aus tin and his pretty German bride who spent two weeks with his par ents while on leave from the Army. Mr. and Mrs. James Ly. barger were co-hosts In receiving and e r v i n g approximately 50 guests. Kenneth is a graduate of Mo doc Union High School, Alturas. and of the University of Nevada in engineering. He met his bride. Helsa. while on duty with the Army in Ger many. They had no language nroblem since Helga speaks fluent English. They were married May 10, 1933. She is a refugee from East Germany. Her father was at one time a prisoner of war of the United States when he was a Ger man army officer. The Austins received many love ly and useful gifts from friends and relatives while in Alturas. They left Sunday for Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where Lieutenant Austin Is assigned to an engineer's unit.
