LIGHTNING McCI.OL'D Lightning strikes have set an average of a fire a dav in the McCloud Ranger Dis I rid of the USFS the past week, according to records at the ranger office. To date, this year, 32 light ning fires have been controlled small and two man caused fires have been extinguished. The record for the past year was 25 light ning and '13 man made. Areas in which blazes were extinguished during the past week were two at Grasshopper Flat, two south of Horse Peak, two at llambone Butte and one at Gray Butte.
