The barracks will pro vide housing for 16 men and are being built for the Happy Camp Division of Forestry. New Happy Camp Forestry Barracks Near Completion HAPPY CAMP The Happy Camp Division nf .Forestry an nounced it expects completion of a new barracks within two weeks which will provide housing for IB men, with a large silting room centrally located and ample show er and bathroom facilities. The new construction includes an addition lo the main office building. One room will be occupied by the ranker for the newly formed Ukn rom District until adequate facili ties can be built in the vicinity of IshiPislii Falls (or that district. Sullivan and his fam ily arrived in Happy Camp .July 15, and are getting settled prior tn his assuming the duties as as sistant to the Happy Camp ranger, Theodore Simpson. Lady 'Bum', 78, -Makes Long Trek HAPPY CAMP Last Monday two "hums" were welcomed here. They were a 78-year old woman, Mrs. Klhel Vanla of Kir by, Oregon, and her IS-year old companion. Sharon Mover, pres ently of Auburn. California. Mrs. Vanta and Sharon left Au burn July 5 for a trip to Kirhv. This is not particularly earth- shaking in itself, but they are go ing by horseback. Mrs. Vanta's mount is named Jingles. Sharon's is named Rythmn and their sturdy packhorse is called Hoopa. Jingles is Mrs. Van ta's personal mount and a friend let them borrow the other two ani mals for their excursion of approx imately 300 miles. Mrs. Vanta is a past president of the "Saddle Bums" organiza tion, which was organized four years ago in Kirhy. The two horse women plan a layover at Young's Valley where they will be joined by another group. The trip was made via Clear Creek. Somes Bar, Lkonom Lake, and One-Mile Lake and then up lo Happy Camp, and on In Kirby. Community Council Plans To Hold Public Meeting A meeting of Ihe Community Council of Klamath County has been set tentatively for Monday. July 28. at a time and place to be announced later. It will he an open meeting fea turing Important reports from committees. MLRPIIY TO AMMAN AMMAN. Jordan AP Rob ert Murphy, President F.isenhow er's special envoy tn the Middle East, will come to Amman short ly to confer with the Jordanian government, the U.S. Embassy said Friday night. Among Ihem will be a report on a recommended revised consti tution and bylaws; another on a suggested budget of expenditures and method of finance: and a re port on redrafting of incorporation articles. Council Chairman Herman 'Burl' Smith reports work has already started on compilation nf an infor mation file on health, welfare and recreation services in the county. This is the initial project of the Community Council. A committee and chairman to see it through is expected to be appointed July 28. He reported also-that the coun cil has been recognized by the Oregon United Appeal. Booklets are now available at the United Fund office.
