A minister, several doctors, and a hospital administrator are the , heroes of a story of modern mis sionary adventure that has brought physical and spiritual blessing to thousands of villagers in remote areas of northern Mexi co. Tremein as pastor of the Klamath Falls Free Methodist Church for the coming conference year of 1958-59. Cleric Lists School Plans MERRILL The Rev. Lloyd Henderson, pastor of the Merrill Presbyterian Church, has an nounced that Vacation Church School will begin Monday, July 28. for a two weeks session. All children from 3 years old and up arelnvilrd to attend the Monday through Friday classes held 9 a.m. until 12 noon each dav. An opportunity to pro - register the children will be given before Sunday School on Sunday, July 27. Also on that date, during the regu lar morning worship service, there will he a dedication service tor the staff of the vacation school. The school will end on Friday, August 8, with a program at 7:30 p.m. to which the parents and friends of the children are invited to attend. God' Story Tomorrow ico, air rescue service: Dr. Da vid Zinke, who- served for lour vears at the hospital and sanitar ium in that town; G. If. Fleenor, hospital administrator; Dr. D. B. Miller, and numerous nurses. Dr. Zinke has logged 81.000 air miles in carrying on the work. Airstrips are inadequate to han dle even small planes. Winds arc treacherous in the canyons. The plane personnel fly into almost in accessible outpost villages to bring the ill and wounded to the hospital. In the past decade 4.200 operations have been performed and more than 142.000 outpatients treated in this hospital operated by the Seventh Day A d v e n t i 1 1 churches. Flying hazards in the mountain ous country are terrific. Elder Baxter s first air-ambulance serv ice work w-as begun on inspira tion and continued he says, "on a thread and a prayer." He and his lellow Hying missionaries have flown under conditions that others would never attempt. There are few airstrips in the remote back country, but natives have been so eager lor help that seemingly in surmountable obstacles have been overcome. Litterally mountains have been moved hy hand labor to construct a landing strip. But with out a plane it takes days to trek into the interior. Planes have been wrecked and money raised to buy others. Dur ing Dr. Zinkc's period of service at Montemorelos. 15 mountain air strips were completed. The medical service also proved itself "a true right arm of the message of faith," for many young people Irom Mortemorelos were airlilted into the villages to hold Bible studies and meetings with in (crested persons. Dr. Zinke flew scores of hours (o air-ferry these eager messengers of the gospel into these far away sections of Mexico. One nearly inaccessible village, Lampacilos, now has an adobe Seventh Day Advent ist Church he cause of the interest of the flying missionaries. Christ Church Postpones Meet ALTL'RAS Church of Christ members postponed their regular jnid-w-eek service last week to per mit the use of their church edifice in commemoration of 75 years of service that the Congregational Church has given to the commu nity. The building, which was sold by the Congregationalists to the Church of Christ, is located on Main Street and Second Street and is a landmark in Alturas. The Congregational Church was found- ed July 9. 1883, in Alturas. Ordination Rites Slated Ordination services for Herman B. Eschen will be held in Peace Memorial . Presbyterian Church next Sunday evening, July 20, at 8 o'clock. The Presbytery of South west Oregon will be in charge of the service and the message of the evening will be brought hy the moderator. Dr. D. Kirkland West, pastor of the First Presyterian Church of Medford. Mr. Eschen, who is a graduate. of Iowa State College and morel recently of San Francisco Theolog ical Seminary, San Ansel mo, Cal ifornia, is presently serving the Kendall Community Presbyterian Church in Portland. He spent sev eral years in Klamath Falls with the Car-Ad-Co Company before en tering the seminary in 11155. He' has done summer work as student assistant in Klamath Falls Peace Memorial Church, and in the Un-1 ion Church of Monterey, Mexico. He also served as a part-time stu dent assistant in Westminster Foundation work at the University oi California at Berkeley. Mr. Eschen will occupy the pul pits of both Peace Memorial Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Klamath Falls next Sun day morning. A reception honoring the Rev. and Mrs. Kschen will follow the Ordination Service, and will be served by the ladies of the church in Westminster Hall. The public is cordially invited to attend this service on Sunday evening.
