Alturas, was held July 2 in the IOOF hall for the purpose of re ceiving instructions from Mrs. Alice M. Criss, deputy president of District No. 4. The regular meeting on July 4 was canceled. Dinner The Women's Improve ment Club, Adin, will serve a 6:30 dinner on Tuesday night, July 8, when Mystic Jewel Rebekah Lodge No. 82 of Adin entertains Mrs. Frassie Specker, Marysville, president of the Rebekah Assem bly of California at a district ; meeting. - Retired Mrs. Mellie Miller, who Is retiring as court reporter of the Superior Court of Modoc County, was honored with a tea by her fellow employes during their after noon coffee break at the court house, Alturas, on Monday. Mrs. James Blurton presented a gift to the honoree in behalf of her co-workers. Mrs. Miller'3 retire ment concludes five years of serv ice as court reporter for Modoc County. She was court reporter in Lake County for approximately 16 years. Guests Mr. and Mrs. F. V. Coneland and Mickey, Bill and Tim Coles of Dorris were Satur day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Holbrook and fam ily in Macdoel. The afternoon was spent branding colts and rabbit hunting. From New Mexico Mrs. Harold Andrus, Clovis, New Mexico, is visiting at the Macdoel home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnson. New Pine Creek Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Boutin returned Sunday evs- nine to New Pine Creek from a weekend trio to Feather Falls, California. The Boutins also visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Croxton former residents of New Pine Creek, who are living in Red Bluff. Guests Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grossen and children of Scott Val ley were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cross and fam ily of Macdoel. From Porllanri Ml- and Mn Don Wilson and three children of Portland are visiting this week with the Carl Wilsons in Macdoel. From Pasadena Mr. and Mrs urin Karticr, Pasadena, are at their summer home on Willow Creek near New Pine Creek. Macdoel Mr. and Mrs. K. C. Wilson, Macdoel, met their daugh-i ter, Mrs. Ruby Short, and family at Odell Lake last Monday and brought the Wilson's three grand children home with them. From Honolulu Dr. and Mrs. John Felix and four of their seven children were visitors at the Art Ixmkeit home in New Pine Creek. Dr. Felix is in charge of the St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu. The Felix family was on its way to iCalgary, Canada. From Gold Hill Grover Mulkey, Gold Hill, Oregon, is working on his home on Highway 3!S. across from the Willow Ranch Fire Hall, in preparation of selling it. He is also doing some farm work on some land he has an interest in.
