Torture Leads ' To Shooting PITTSBURGH (AP)-A subur ban Bethel Borough man was shot to death early today by his 13-year-old son who told police the lather had beat him and lighted matches under his fingers. John Kohle Sr. 40, a crane oper ator in a Pittsburgh plant, was killed by four bullets fired into his back from a .32 caliber re volver. , Bethel Police Chief John Mis kunas quoted John Kohle Jr., as saying he shot his father following an argument over some missing shotgun shells when the boy re turned home late from his paper route. The father went out, but continued the argument in the boy's bedroom on his relurn. "The boy said his mother made the father slop beating him," the chief said, "but he told me that his father came back to his room a short time later and held lighted matches under his fingers, trying to make him confess to stealing the shotgun shells." Miskunas said the boy then reached under his pillow for the gun and fired. Detectives said the boy would be turned over to juvenile authorities. The Air Force said the plane was pi loted by an airman who had no instruction in flying. The plane sped off the runway at Alconbury shortly after mid night. It gained altitude, banked to the right and crashed almost immediately into a railway line. The crash cut the tracks used for the overnight express between London and ScoUand, delaying service four hours. The runaway crash came only 10 minutes alter another accident involving another V. S. Air Force plane from Alconbury a collision in flight between an American jet trainer and a Royal Air Force Quartet To Visit Here Now on its seventh annual sum mer-long tour, the Ambassador Quartet from Pacific Lutheran Col lege, Tacoma, Washington, will ap pear here in concert Wednesday, June 18. The public Is invited. There will be no admission charge, but a free will offering will be tak- l. Presenting a program of sacred music, the quartet will sing in Klamath Lutheran Church, 1175 Crescent Street, at 8 p.m. Included on the program will be 18 selections, including arrange ments of familiar hymns, church music classics and well known spirituals. The hymns will include Jesu Priceless Treasure," "O God, Our Help in Ages Past." Enriching the program will be arrangements of Bach's "Break Forth, O Beau teous Heavenly Light" and "Tc Deum" by Sibelius. Spirituals to he 6ung will include "Deep River," "Steal Away" and "My Lord, I'm on my Journey." The program will also include a group of organ solos by David Dahl, who is majoring in music and organ at PLC. In addition to their singing, the collegians will conduct opening de votions, and one of them will give a brief talk on Christian education. On their current three-monlh lour, the quartet will give over 100 concerts in Washington, Oregon California. Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Montana, Idaho and British Columbia. Railroads Stall On Merger Move ST. LOUIS (API-Directors of the Missouri Pacific Railroad have delayed until August any ac tion on a possible merger of MOPAC with the Texas Pacific Railway. Directors reached no conclusion after a day-long conference yes terday, a spokesman said. A final report on the merger is to he made by Aug. 8. The next board meeting is set for Aug. 18. Meracr ot the lines would cre ate the third largest railroad in this country with 11,900 miles of track, ranking only behind the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fc and Southern Tacilic Lines. Any merger wan adopted would have to be approved by the Inter state Commerce Commission and stockholders of both railroads. Canberra bomber. Two Ameri cans and two Britons died in that crash.
