Soil Service Aids School YREKA The U.S. Soil Conscr vation Service has been assisting the Yrcka IliRh School .biology classes of James T. Branson and Donald K. -Fehlman, both teachers at the school. The assistance given by the conservation service has been in the form of discussions, the first day being spent discussing the effect of erosion up lo the pre sent time and soils. The second day was spent in discussing the role of wildlife in conservation and the third day the subject matter for discussion was water conservation. Also listed among the activities of the soil conservation service was 'digging cesspools, drain fields and ino assistance given oy ns engm- x.sii. This ditch has been so designed that it will intercept the sub-surface water, thus lowering the wa ter table and improving Crop yields. The dilch will be equipped with gates, so that the intercepted water can be trapped and used for irriga tion. The ditch consists of 5,225 cubic yards of earth being moved.
