PT&T Man To Visit Basin A "magic carpet" that will take drudgery out of work and create new jobs will be described to local service clubs by Charles E. Seavey during a three-day visit here. Forest Funds Go To School DOMRIS Siskiyou County Board of Education members ap portioned $135,525 in funds re ceived from the U.S. Forest Serv ice to Siskiyou County schools. The board had earlier taken a tour of Yreka area schools at Hornbrook, Willow Creek, Bogus, Fall Creek, Delphic and Little Shasta, escorted by county super intendent of schools, Eddie Rob erts. Roberts said Friday that the members had also approved the purchase of seven new films for the county schools audio-visual de partment, which is directed by Paul F i 8 h e r, ' assistant county school superintendent. Life diplomas were granted to George Sorcnson of Etna High School in general secondary and special secondary vocational; and Harlcy J. Zeller of Tulelake Ele mentary, in general elementary. They appointed Fern Thornton to replace Eileen McBroom, re cently resigned from the Sawyer's Bar Elementary School Board of Trustees. Roberts said theext meeting of the board will be held June 26 in Yreka. Chamber Views Airport Slides Picture slides of new, modern airport administration buildings were viewed Tuesday morning by the Commerce Chamber's Avia tion and Military Affairs Com mittee. The committee seeks to promote interest in a new Klamath Falls Airport administration building. Slides shown by member Dick Bailey showed recently-built build ings at Visalia, Bakersfield, Sa linas and Monterey. They ranged In cost from $40,000 to $360,000. The federal government will pay from some 45 per cent to 54 per cent of the cost of such structures. Bailey said. Architect John Howard explained details of the buildings. In gen eral, they provide facilities for a restaurant, ticket purchases, bag' gage room, one or more Birline offices, car rental office, parking spaces, a CAA office, a lounge and a meeting room. The committee, through discus sion, is endeavoring to decide on the kind of building that would be most feasible for Klamath Falls Alrnort. Walter Mclntyre presided over the meeting. Group Considers Street Surfacing DUNSMUIR The surfacing ol si reels of the Kaleta subdivision will be reconsidered at the next council meeting, Mayor J. Morgan Jones stated. The possibility of passing the costs of oiling the streets to the adjoining property owners as a street assessment will be dis cussed, Jones said. The council originally gave developers as surance the streets would be sur faced as soon as possible in order to assure fHA approval of home construction. The job has been estl mated at $3,400. At last week's council meeting. Mrs. C. H. Dodwell protested the proposed work pointing out that residents in older portions of town wero still paying street assess ment and that surfacing subdi vision streets might establish an expensive precedent Jones said he talked the matter ever with Councilman George Mannce after the meeting, but no official decision can be made un til the next council meeting. Dom Sirianni, real estate man, pointed out the streets In north Dunsmuir were surfaced at county expense and improved at city ex pense following annexation. He fa vors the city doing the work as a means of broadening the tax base with new home development. Road Group Seeks Bids Bids on two projects in Klam ath County will be received by the Oregon State Highway Com mission at its next regular meet ing in Salem, Thursday. One project calls for 3.28 miles of grading and paving work on the middle unit of the Crescent Lake Junction-The Dalles-California Junction section of the Wil lamette Highway, about 40 miles northeast of Oakndge. Plans in general call for widening the ex isting highway to provide a 22- foot asphaltic concrete pavement flanked by eight-foot stone shoul ders, four feet of which, adjacent to the pavement, Is to bo oiled to prevent infiltration of water at pavement edges. On ascending grades, an additional 11-foot lane of pavement is to be provided for slow moving vehicles. This section is to be constructed un der traffic. The other project calls for the paving of Second Avenue between Blocklinger Street and the city hall in the city of Chiloquin. The asphaltic concrete pavement will be 20 feet In width with a three foot stone shoulder on each side. Pavement and new stone base will also be placed on Blockling er btrect between becond Avenue and the west city limits. Both projects are scheduled for com pletion in the fall of 1958. Auditorium Scene Of Graduation LAKEV1EW Graduation exer cises will be held at the high school auditorium in Lakeview Thursday evening at 8 o'clock, May 29, for 71 members of the eighth grade classes. Valediclorian for tho class is Nancy- Galloway and salutatorian is Craig MacKay. Other awards for the year will be announced by Stanley J. Tooke, junior high prin cipal, and diplomas will be handed out by Low Harris, vice chairman of the district school board. Music will be furnished by the junior high band under the di rection of James Arment, with in dividual presentations also included. The social and graduation dance following the ceremonies will be held in the auditorium of the A. D. Hay School.
