Work Group Holds Meet The Orecon Unemployment Com pensation Advisory Council was in regular meeting at Portland Wed nesday as the attorney generals decision regarding the 14 million dollar federal loan was announce-. Mrs. Cecelia P. Galey, chairman! of the Advisory Council and of j the Unemployment Compensation Commission, said, "The council is deeply concerned with the results of th riwision. and recommends that the commission immediately explore steps that should ne lateen to alleviate the situation. The coun cil stands ready to assist." "The fund is now at $26,106.- M1.12. without the 14 million dol lar. If pcfmnmic conditions do not improve substantially, the fund wilt be in precarious condition. An immediate result of the at tornev general's decision will be that all employers will pay a tax at the rate of 2.7 per cent, starting with payments due for the second quarter, payable in July. 1958. Previous to announcement of the aVorney general's decision, the Advisory Council heard reports ,from subcommittees on organiza tioft, coverage, benefits, employ ment service and farm labor.
