Binkley. Helping his dad dismantle the doors of the abandoned box is the sheriff's son, John. Rotary Backs Eye Program DUNSMUIR An enlarged eye bank program and continuation of the foreign student exchange proj ect were endorsed by District 516, Rotary International, at its dis trict conference in Dunsmuir this past weekend. Six hundred forty seven visiting Rotarians and their wives were registered during the three day event. They represented 51 clubs from the Bay Area north to the Oregon line. District Gov. Edward Kocssler was honored at the Sunday hreak . fast session, receiving the plaudits of the conference for his term of office. Roessler and Otto Iliche, a past district governor, of Oak land were named delegates to the Rotary International convention in Dallas. Texas, next month. Wil liam S. Palmer is the new district governor. One of the resolutions the con vention delegates were asked to support was that attendance re quirements for Rotarians be main tained. It was felt that only through active and consistent par ticipation can Rotary objectives be accomplished. The Dunsmuir Rotary Club re- ceived commendation for the smooth functioning of the confer ence in which every programmed - event went off as scheduled. Dele gates expressed surprise that the varied program was engineered by the 24-member host club A highlight Saturday afternoon was a 60-car, two bus caravan , through scenic southern Siskiyou County. Special permission h a d been obtained to visit the Hearst ranch on the McCIoud River, among other points of interest. Over 500 people were served at the governor's banquet Saturday night in the gaily decorated Duns muir Elementary School Auditori um where all conference meals were served. Downtown Dunsmuir with special dance music at the Dunsmuir Hotel and Dunsmuir Masonic emple were the scenes of late evening festivities. Tha mas- cot was a set of stag antlers. 4-H NEWS DORRIS . The Dorris 4-H Club, the Aggies, met at the city hall Saturday, May 10. at 8 p.m. The meetine was called to or der by Norma Struble, vice presi dent. Minutes were read and ap proved. The club secretary gave a report on the club funds. The members of the club voted to turn the remaining money over to tne ciub treasurer. Club members are busy clear ing out Storey's reservoir so they will have a place to go swimming this summer. Dale Struble is as sisting with the job. The club went on a tour with the Macdoel 4-H'ers Sunday, May 18.
