"I want the thousands of people who have written us that they prayed for Richard during his illness to have faith that God will answer their prayers," said Skel ton. ' "I believe that good comes out of everything, even tragedy such as ours. Maybe the world will know now that this disease must be licked. 1 think it is the begin ning of all cancer." The 9-year-old boy died Satur day night after a 16-month fight with the disease. Only blood trans fusions had kept the child alive in recent weeks. A final brain hemorrhage sent the boy into a coma that lasted an hour, he awoke briefly and whispered: "I can't see. Everything fuzzy." A doctor turned off the light in the UCLA Medical Center room five minutes later and told the parents lh.it the boy had died. It was a moment the Skcltons had dreaded for more than year. When it came, they were too stunnel to move. Mrs. Skelton London Meatmen Begin Strike LONDON tm A strike by 6.500 meat handlers at Smithtield Mar ket, London's meat wholesale cen ter, began at midnight. Supplies, already short because of a truck er's strike, are expected to be come acute if the walkout con tinues. The handlers quit work in pro test against the discharge of 600 of their number as the result of a previous walkout by meat truck drivers. The drivers' strike meant less work for handlers and em ployers let some men go. Because of the trucking stop page, meat is piling up at London docks. His room was filled with religious statues ana pic turcs. The funeral comes on the day Red's show is seen on the CBS TV network.
