Basket Social The North Lake County Scales Association will hold a basket social at 8 p.m. Satur day, March 22, at the Fort Rock Grange Hall. Ladies are to bring baskets. Proceeds will help on the expense of the installation of the community scales. Howard McGee is chairman of the scales organi zation. Returned Mrs. Ramona Brooks and son, Jerry, returned to their home in Montague March 11 after spending a few days with her sis ter, Mrs. Freda Umbargar, Bend. Convention Mr. and Mrs. John Potter, Yreka, are attending a con vention for representatives of the California-Western States Life In surance Company at the El Mira dor Hotel in Palm Springs. Potter is a member of the Northern Cali fornia Agency of -the company. Dinner Meeting The Yreka Trail Riders recently held a din ner meeting at the Shamrock Cafe in Yreka. Mrs. Ruby Gieer con ducted the business session during which the main topic for discus sion was changes in the voting pro cedure in the bylaws. Dance The Montague Trail macrs are sponsoring a dance at the Montague Auditorium on Sat urday evening, March 15. Variety Show The youth group of the Gazelle Grange will present a variety show at the Montague Auditorium on March 28 and 29. Funds derived from the show will be added to the building fund for a new grange hall for the Gazelle kiyou County Board of Supervisors several weeks ago in an effort to place the county hospital on an equal basis as private hospitals. . Home Extension Merrill Home Extension Unit will meet at the Merrill Recreation Hall on Friday, March 14. at 10 a.m. The program will be "Design in Dress." A pot luck luncheon will be served at noon and a business meeting will continue in the afternoon. Card Party The Three Links of Merrill Rebekah Lodge No. lal will hold a pinochle and bridge party on Friday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall. Dessert refreshments will be served. Pro ceeds from the card party will be contributed to the president s project at the Odd Fellows Home at Portland. Silver Lake Jim Linebaugh vis ited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Les- ton Linebaugh, Silver Lake, over the weekend. He is on the Canyon City Soil Conservation Service staff and works at preparing ranch plans. Hospitalized Several Fort Rock men nave been Hospitalized re cently. Charley Stingley has. re turned from Bend: W. 0. White from surgery at the U.S. Veteran's Hospital at Vancouver and C. B. Webster was taken to Bend dur ing the weekend. Bangs Testing was done in the Fort Rock area Thursday and Fri day by Dr. Victor Hill, Lakeview, Lake County veterinarian. Dorrit Adrian Fenwick, chair man of the March of Dimes drive, said the sale of a homemade quilt, made by the members of the Home Extension Club of Macdoel and Mt. Convention Emphasis on in creasing the membership of Amer ican Legion posts in Northern Cali fornia was the main topic of the AL convention in McCloud March 8 and 9 with 37 delegates from 10 AL posts in Northern California in attendance. Smith, Chiloquin, returned home after flying to Carthage, Missouri, to attend the Golden Wedding An niversary of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Trent. This was the first time the six children of the family had been together in 14 years. Hard Times Dance The senior class of Chiloquin High School spon sored a hard times dance in the school library, last Friday night. Southern California Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Doak, Chiloquin, and two granddaughters, Lawana and Bobbie Doak. have returned from a vacation in Southern California which included trips to Disneyland and Catalina Island.
