Boswell. 35, of Redding entered a plea of guilty on a speeding count in Dunsmuir Judicial Court on Mon day afternoon and was fined $53 by Judge A. A. Smith. Attorney Ira Shadwell, Redding, appeared in his behalf. Boswell had been cited by Duns muir police after his truck was stopped by Dunsmuir s mayor, J. Morgan Jones. A passing over the double line citation issued at the time of the arrest was dropped. Speeding accounted for three other arrests in Dunsmuir on Mon day and Tuesday. William Ross Gregory, 21, Dorris, paid a $27 fine. Leonard Bauehn Nair. 21. of Los Angeles, is spending two days in the city jail. Los Angeles officers said here last night the curvaceous 34-year-old screen actress told them her claim Wednesday that her estranged husband, millionaire Harry Karl, engineered the kid naping came after she had re ceived an anonymous telephone call. She said it was from a man who referred to the kidnaping and threatened her life. After a long questioning period, Los AnKeles Detective Lt. Her man Zander said Miss Mc Donald's charges against her hus band "appear to be consistent with her first story ot the kidnaping. It was a little more tnan a year aco that the blonde Miss McDon aid reported she 'had been kid napped by two men, new captive for 24 hours and then released on the desert 150 miles from her Encino, Calif., home. A Brand jury investigation at which Miss McDonald testified failed to bring any charges. Wednesday, Miss Aicuonam, currently appearing in a northern Kentucky night club, told a press Cancer Cure Study Related WASHINGTON WI The Veter ans Administration said today some of its researchers had un covered evidence "that could point the way toward development of a vaccine for treatment of some types of cancer." The announcement indicated, however, that there is no certain ty of such a development. It said studies are being continued in the hope of discovering an anticancer weapon ot that type. The VA said the work is being done by doctors at its hospital in McKinney, Tex. It quoted Dr. Russell II. Wilson of that hospital as saying the research "indicates the existence of a natural defense mechanism of the body against cancer, the same type of body re action which makes vaccine against polio and other diseases possible." ' The announcement said find ings indicate that, under certain circumstances, products from can cer cells may cause the body to produce substances perhaps anti bodieswhich may travel through the blood stream and attack the cancer cells. "Dr. Wilson said the research ers are pursuing these findings in the hope of discovering a way to activate this reaction to an extent that would be useful in destroying some typos of malignant growth," the VA said. The researchers were said to be working both with test tube tissue cultures and with patients who volunteered for the studies. conference Karl engineered the kidnaping. Art Show Set For Churchill NEW YORK W-An e.Aibit of 40 paintings by Sir Winston Churchill opens today at the Met ropolitan Museum of Art. The one-man art show runs through March 30. It is free. At a preview, invitation-only benefit by the English-Speaking Union last night, presidential as sistant Sherman Adams told the several hundred guests that the paintings add another dimension to the understanding of one of the great figures of the tunes. Adams paid tribute to the 83- year-old statesman-painter. Among British officials who at tended the preview were Sir Har old Caccia, ambassador to the United States, and Sir Pierson Dixon permanent representative to the United Nations. President Eisenhower, another amateur painter, wrote the fore word to the exhibit catalogue. In Sir Winston's consent for the dis-. play, Eisenhower found "a signal compliment ... to our country. Most of the canvases being shown are on loan from Sir Win ston or members of his family. A few have been lent by private col lectors to whom he has presented examples of his work. PACIFIC INDUSTRIAL LOANS Servicemen Face Charges SEOUL. Korea UV-The U. S Army today formally charged two officers and a sergeant with mis treating a Korean boy who was beaten, tarred and put into a small, nail-studded box after he was caught stealing. The boy, 14-year-old Kim Choon II, was discovered whimpering in the box Feb. 14 after being flown in a helicopter from the Ascom maintenance center, where he was caught, to Uijongbu 23 miles away. The incident raised a storm of protest in South Korea and height ened the campaign for a slatus-of-forces treaty which would al low Korean courts to try U. S. servicemen. Charges were filed against Maj. Thomas G. James, 40, Plymouth, Pa.: Capt. Marvin E. Kemp. 34. Kilmithael. Miss., and Sgt. Rob ert E. Weidcnsaul, 31, Potts town. Ta.
