Presbyteron fraternal 9 Worker To Speok n Basin MALIN A Presbyterian frat ernal worker on furlough from the Philippines speaks to four Klam ath Basin churches this week. Mrs. Eugene A. Hessel of Manila is be ing brought to the area by the Women's Association of the Matin Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Hessel's specialty has been ..work with lepers who live in nine leprosaria scattered throughout the Philippines. During the past nine years she has held executive posts with the Philippine Committee of American Leprosy Missions, Inc. In this capacity she has visited the famed Culion Leper Colony many times. Currently she and her husband re studying at San Francisco The ological Seminary where Mr. Hes sel is completing work on his doc torate degree. In June the couple will return to Manila where Mr. Hessel was pastor at Manila's El- Jlnwood-Malate Church which since - January 1 has become self-supporting with Us own Filipino pastor. Mrs. Hessel starts her speaking Jour at Peace Memorial Presby terian Church, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, . March 4. Wednesday, March 5, she peaks at 2 p.m. to the Women's Association of Tulelake Presbyter ian Church. Wednesday night Mrs. Hessel's talk about the EUinwood Church, illustrated with colored slides, is featured at Malin Presbyterian Lnurcn s lamuy night. Potluck din ner starts at 6:30. School Gas Figure Eyed Members of the city school boards have elected to accept an offer by the Shell Oil Company whereby the city school districts can purchase their gasoline at the 20.87 cents per gallon bid to the county court for county gasoline needs. The price is for the year neginning March l. The former practice has been for the city schools to buv their gasoline on me bid figure accept ed by the county school operation. This year the winning county school figure was 21.19 cents per gallon. Before electing to buy the 1958- 39 gasoline on the county bid fig ure, city board members were as sured by county school officials that the city's action would in no way impair the figure offered the county schools, and that the com panies submitting bids to the coun ty school system had not done so on the assumption that the bid would also anoly to citv school gallonage. 1 Mud Slide In Dunsmuir Rips Out Portion Of High School Field, Driveway DUNSMUIR - About 3.500 vards of muck fell off the embankment just north of the Dunsmuir High School early Tuesday morning as the most serious aftermath of Monday s storm. The slide took about one-tenth of the high school's newlv devel- oped $10,000 athletic field along with about 20 feet of driveway ana ji.ouu in steel lencing and re taining wall.
