In Air Force Kdward Mikesell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vein Mike sell. tllO Hanks Street, has enlisted Death Takes Movie Tycoon; Studio's Future Pondered HOLLYWOOD W-Who's going to run Columbia Pictures now that Harry Cohn, most absolute of all movie tycoons, is dead? A worried industry, reeling from television's potent punch, to day pondered the question. Columbia, under Conns iron-fist Ford, an old friend, told Spencer Tracy, Pat O'Brien, Jack Lein mon 'and the rest of "The Last Hurrah" troupe to go home. "Who in the hell am I going to ed rule, long has been regarded j Candle" set Kim Novak, a he sadly walked off the lot. And on the "Bell, Book as an industry giant and one of the most financially successful operations in town. The company has many able executives who can handle the financial end of the operation. But Hollywood is concerned over who will make the pictures in a studio that has been a one-man operation for 3D years. Most logical choice provided he wants such a killing job is producer-director George Sidney. When Colin was first stricken at his suite in a Phoenix, Ariz., resort hotel, it was significant that Mrs. Cohn called Sidney first. Sidney, along with Cohn's per sonal physician, flew to the Ari zona capital just in time to see Cohn being placed in an ambu lance. The 66-year-old Colin died yesterday in Sidney's arms as the ambulance sirencd to St. Joseph's Hospital. Significant, too, is that Mrs. Cohn, voting her own and her three children's shares, will name Columbia's next studio boss. Their holdings, already willed in trust, total more than 200.000 shares a majority. Sidney, like Cohn. is a top pic ture maker. He had a successful tenure at MGM but Cohn lured him to Columbia when Cohn's health started failing several years ago. Since then. Sidney has turned out some of the studio's blockbust ing hits, notable "The Eddie Duchin Story" and "Pal Joey." Sidney is a long-time president of the Screen Directors Guild. Cohn's death, from a heart at tack, showed how little publicized he was in this town. He had a history of heart trouble three attacks in recent years. Few. except his family and intimates, knew this. It was only in the last two years that he permitted his pub licity department to use his name on stories about the studio. The studio virtually closed down when word came of the boss' death.
