DUN'SMUIR Willow Slreer
which bounds the new post office
on the south side, will not be
made into a one-way street or
widened to its full limit at pres
ent, a committee ot city officials
decided on Friday.
The matter was brought up at
the council meeting last week
when the council heard a plea
from Postmaster William Welch
that the post office had been de
signed with two way traffic in
mind.
When post office construction
was started last fall, a 10 foot
width was added to the north side
of the street. The council commit
tee decided against a 10 foot wid
ening on the south side pn the
basis of costs to the city, incon
venience to . the south property
owners and present street ade
quacy.
George Mannee and Louis Ober
kamp. council incumbents, have
announced they will seek to retain
their posts at the city election,
April 8. Both were appointed to fill
unexpired terms last fall and thus
far they are unopposed.
. The council has also voted to
place a 10 cent special tax boost
to purchase fire equipment and a
12 cent special tax boost for street
equipment before the voters in
April. Both rates are to run five
years.
