PACK SIXTEEN TTKRALD AND NEWS, KLAMATH FALLS. OKEGON TIRinSDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 1957 V Blast Issued At Game Chief REDDING (Special) Damage, done by last year's slaughter of docs and fawns will not he appar ent until the 1958 and 1959 deer seasons, according to Charles Bull, president ol the Northern Counties Wildlife Conservation Association. Bull's statement was an answer to that of. Director Scth Cordon of the California Fish and Game Department. Press dispatches have quoted Cordon as saying the buck kill in the season just closed compared favorably with the five year average. "Mr. Cordon." said Bull, "is try ing to exonerate himself of what happened last year during t h c eilhcr-sex hunts. "His game wardens have been more active this fall than ut any time in history, trying to check as many tags as possible so that the record can be built up. I under stand Ihey plan even more strin gent methods next year. "This year's early storms have been favorable to a heavy kill. So has the late season, which brings the bucks into the open during the mating period. There were more buck hunters and I mean buck hunters, not doe hunters this year than ever before. "But even if the buck kill this year, was the greatest in history it wouldn't prove anything. The real test will come next year and in 1959 when the fawns which would have been born to does slaughtered last fall would have become legal bucks. The bucks which were killed this season were not born last April or May. "Let's wail until next fall or the fall of M39 to pass judgment on Mr. Cordon and his so-called game management policies." I'NWII.MNG POLICE RICHMOND, Va. Wi-Policemen called to quiet a noisy party in a residential area here, stayed with the celebrants longer than intend ed. Celebrants made off with both police patrol cars, which were later found abandoned nearby.
