Neighbors of Woodcraft assisted in the wrapping of gifts sent by the Klamath County Chapter, American Red Cross. Local Lodge Provides Gifts To provide a Christmas for serv icemen who will be on the high seas December 25, or hospitalized in military hospitals overseas, re quires early planning, purchasing, and wrapping. Neighbors of Wood craft volunteered their services to the local chapter of the Red Cross to provide 50 gift packages. Each package contained a deck of play ing cards, pocket edition book, and ball point pen. Mrs. Mabel Dirschl, assisted by Mrs. A. N. Wenner, selected the gifts to be sent. Neighbors of Wood craft members devoted part of their " October 21 meeting to in dividually gift wrapping each pur chase under the leadership of Mrs. Fred Floetke, guardian neighbor. Packages have been mailed to ports of embarkation and will be put aboard ships having service per sonnel on board for Christmas Day. The purpose of the project is to help make Christmas cheer for servicemen who will not be re ceiving their personal mail on the holiday. Cost of the project was assumed by the local Red Cross chapter with funds contributed through the an nual United Fund-Red Cross cam paign. Auto Owners Report Thefts A Model 70, 30-06 Winchester rifle was stolen from the auto mobile of Ray C. Hansen when the machine was parked in down town Klamath Falls Monday eve ning. Access to the interior of the car was gained through one of the fly windows. Also Thursday night a red wheel and 710-15 tire was stolen from the vehicle belonging to Ronald Phair Jr., when the automobile was parked near the intersection of Martin Street and Home Ave- GU1LTY PLEA A man reported to have passed a worthless check in a local hotel has pleaded guilty to a felony charge filed by the district attor ney. He is Lew Hatfield who will be sentenced Monday, November 4, at 10: 15 by Circuit Judge David R. Vandenberg. Hatfield had waived preliminary hearing and his right to a hearing by the grand jury. YFW Groups Plan Confab DORRIS ' Members of the Butte Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5944 and its auxiliary will host the VFW District 20 meeting here on Sunday, Novem ber 3. The posts will meet at he Red Barn starting at 10 a.m. and the auxiliaries will hold their sessions at the same time at the elemen tary school recreation hall. Mrs. Dora Branham, local aux iliary youth activity chairman and the junior class room mother, an nounced that the junior class will provide luncheon for the entire group at the city hall at 2 p.m. Mrs. Lillie Maelntyre has been named as chairman of the junior classroom mothers who will pre pare the meal. The junior girls will serve and junior boys will do the cleanup. Assisting as advisers will be Philip Staab and Douglas Balz, Butte Valley High School teachers. Basket Social Aids Fund Drive DUNSMUIR More than $175 was realized from a basket social held Saturday niaht by members of the Dunsmuir Rotary Club and their wives. Proceeds will support me loreign student project spon sored by Rotary and the Worn en's Club. Bob Kenoyer was presented with a past president s pin. Judge A. A. Smith, president, made the pres ent anon. Suzie Baldo, Lil McEnerney, Paul Hamilton and Joe Baldo won prizes for being "snappy" dress ers.
