All members of the Klamath Falls Library Club are invited to attend. Costume Party A juvenile costume party will be held Wednes day, October 30, 7 to 9 p.m. at the Midland Grange Hall. There will be prizes, games and refresh ments by the grange home eco nomics committee members. All grange and community children are invited. For information call Freda Flowers, TO 4-5915. Rummage Sale Klamath Luth eran Ladies Aid will hold a rum mage sale at Clyde and Art's Tow ing Service building on Klamath Avenue, Friday, November 1. Rum mage may be brought to the build ing after 6 p.m. Thursday or early Friday morning. For pickup, please call Mrs. Chet Hamaker, TU 2-2404. Rummage may also be left at the church, 1175 Crescent Street. Scouts The Pelican School Cub Scouts, Pack 9, will meet tonight, Monday, at 7:30 in the cafeteria. This will be an organiza tional meeting. Convalescing William Bourell, who suffered a heart attack about two weeks ago, is now able to re ceive visitors at his home. Returm Home Mrs. R. J. Bri negar, Klamath Falls, has returned home after spending several days in Dunsmuir due to the recent Women Hear Fire Chief Guest speaker at the October meeting of Insurance Women of Klamath Falls was Fire Chief Roy Rowe who showed colored slides and spoke on fire prevention. Thirteen members attended. Two new members were accept ed into the association. Evelyn , Drew and Eva G. Bowman of Merrill. Guests at the meeting in the Pelican Party Room were Mary Blanchard of the Midland Empire Agency, Sharon Jeschke and Gol den Vallier, both with the Deane Sacher Real Estate Agency here. The next meeting will be held on November 19 and all agents are invited to attend. A guest speaker is expected from San Francisco. Skating Party To Be Held CRESCENT Bill Anderson chairman of the Community Club's Skating Committee, announces that the November 1 skate will be a Halloween party and everyone is asked to come masked. There will be skating for those under 12 years from 6 to 8 p.m. and teen-age or older from 8:15 to 11 p.m. The party will be free for every one in the club area. LaPine, Gil Christ, Crescent, Chemult and Cres cent Lake. There will be stunts and refreshments. Jaywalk Warning Given By Chief MOUNT SHASTA-The period of warnings for jaywalking is over and the time has come to start giving citations. Police Chief Har old Barnum said this week. The campaign against illegal street crossing, sparked by the tragic death of a school boy some weeks ago, has achieved good results so far, he added. Barnum added that double park ing in the business section of the town is next on his list. Soroptimists Review UN Functions At Hotel Meet The purpose, function and ac complishments of the United Na tions were reviewed for members of the Klamath Falls Soroptimist Club during the recent luncheon meeting at the Winema Hotel. The speake. was Charles John- Son, president of the Klamath Falls Chapter of the Oregon United Na tions Association, also appointed by Mayor Lawrence Slater as chairman of United Nations Day. He was introduced by Claudia Moore, program chairman. While the world has been en gaged in scientific research, the speaker said, 'Study in the field of human relations has been lag ging with resultant misunderstand ings. Hope of most of the mem ber nations Is centered in the UN security council maintain an in ternational peace. Most recent members are Japan and Gana. Cost of the UN, one third of which is born by the United States, equals 42 cents annually for every man, woman and child in this country. Nautilus Makes Trip Under Ice SAN FRANCISCO Ufi Secretary of the Navy Thomas S. Gates says the atomic-power submarine Nautilus has scored another first by traveling 1,000 miles under the arctic ice pack in five and a half days. Gates, here to address Republi can groups in San Jose today and, Oakland tomorrow, said the Nau tilus was on a cruise this month testing equipment and machinery and gathering operational and scientific data.
