Minne sota, received her B.S. degree in public health from the University of Minnesota, and a degree in pub lic health and mental health from the same school. She has served as a reserve nurse officer in USPII service, was industrial public health nurse dur ing World War II in Vancouver, Washington,' education director for (he Chicago Visiting Nurse Associ ation and Mental Health Nursing Consultant for the Kansas Slate Board of Health. Also appearing on the panel will be Dr. Dean Brooks, superinten dent of the Oregon Slate Hospital, Salom; Dr. Seth Kerron, Klamnlh County health officer; Miss Mil dred Lowden, psychiatric social worker for the Klamnlh Cmi"iv Health Department, and two lo cal physicians, Dr. ruul onarp and Dr. William G. I BASIN Visits Visiting with friends and relatives in the Merrill area for the past week were Mr. and Mrs. Chet Ferguson from Grass Valley. Ray Scotl of Seattle was a re cent visitor at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Bax ter, Eastside, and his little son Rex Allen Scott who makes his home with the Baxters. Scott has been in the Merchant Marines for a number of years. With Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roger Allard and family of Grants Pass are making plans this week to move to Eugene where he will work as a building contrac tor. Their small daughter Michelle is staying this week with her grandparents, Air. and Mrs. Roche Allard and family of Eastside, until the family is settled. Gordon Emery of Silver Lake has accepted a position with the Ford Garage in Lakeview and is staying with Mrs. M. P. J. Barry and sons at the Barry ranch. Hunters Max Kimmel of Rose burg and Karl Kimmel of Cottage Grove accompanied by two other friends spent last week hunting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred McGuffin of Eastside. Injured Mrs. Clara Baxter had the misfortune to slip and fall from her back porch last week and sprained her back quite badly. While the X-rays showed no brok en bones, she was badly shaken and bruised. From Coqullle Mr. and Mrs. El mer Benham and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Parent of Coquille recently spent several days hunting in the Cogswell Creek area. They were all fortunate in bagging their bucks, and left Friday to return to their homes. Benham is a cousin to Mrs. John O'Neil of this district. Ilousegucsts at the Floyd Crum met ranch in Eastside last week were her aunt and uncle, Mrs. Al- Chico, former Lake County resi dents who visited relatives and renewed friendships. Planning Meeting Dianne Allard of Eastside was hostess Wednes day evening of last week to the primary officers and teachers monthly planning meeting of the Latter Day Saints Church at her home. Refreshments were served following the meeting. Burial services were held last week for Mrs. Mary Duke, 92. in the Lakeview Cemetery following her death in Redmond. Her late husband, Frank Duke; was justice of the peace in the district at one lime, and they were' among the early settlers of Lake County. Sterling Hand stopped briefly in Eastside last week to visit rela tives, the O'NeiPs, during a busi ness trip which took him to New York, Chicago and Mexico. Hanel, who owns and operates a sawmill near Hood River, flies his own plane. Friends Visit Mr. and Mrs. Ben Safley and son of Newport were houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack .Mount ol Eastside while on a hunting trip in Lake County. Montague Arriving in Montague on October 21 from Oakland was lim Cooley, accompanied by his sister. Mrs. Ellen G. Dockery. Both are natives of Siskiyou Coun ty. While here they will be house guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Fiock. Mrs. Fiock is their niece. Son Born Word was received j that the former pastor of the As sembly of God Church of Mon tague, the Dev. Paul Callahan and his wile became the parents of a baby boy recently. Mrs. Callahan, while here, was an active mem ber of the Montague GOC. Scholarship Mrs. Chris Wilson, the former Christine Behnke, a freshman at Shasta College in Redding, was awarded a $200 scholarship with the college choir on the basis of her musical ac complishments. She is the regu lar college choir accompanist. Mrs. Wilson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Behnke of Yreka. and her husband both graduated from Yreka High School and are both siuucuis at oiiiisia college. To Seattle C. F. Borton of Los Angeles who visited Mr. and Mrs. Art Lenkeit in New Pine Creek a week left a week ago Saturday for Seattle to join his wife who is visiting relatives. Home Ec Club of New Pine Creek met a week ago Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Maude Butler as hostess. Sickness in the ranks made the attendance small. The hostess served pie and coffee after a short business meeting. Visit Father Mr. and Mrs Ralph Ai'outt and family from Kennewick, Washington, visited last week with nis father, Joe Ayoutt and family, in New Pine Creek and left Tuesday for Sum mer Lake where he will work on the Bill Harvey ranch. Young Ayoutt just received his discharge uuui me service. From Santa Cruz Earl Martin, who moved from New Pine Creek to Santa Cruz about two months ago, returned last week with his brother-in-law, Frank Duarte. to go deer hunting and butcher Mar tin's beef. Martin has purchased a home in Santa Cruz. Spending (he week with Mr. Mrs. Don Walker and children of Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. Her shel Walker and children, also of Portland. Mrs. Don Walker the former Betty Combs. was From Brookings Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Travis and son Dick were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Merle O'Neil of Eastside while in Lake County from the coast to do some hunting. They left on Tues day to return to their home near Brookings. Weekend Guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walt Lightle in East side was their daughter and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Carl True and children who were accompanied from Albany by Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Jones, who are friends of the True family. They live at Loquille. Highway Project Funds Listed A $4,600,000 highway project in the Dunsmuir canyon has been included in the 483 million dollar California state highway budget for 1958-50. The Shasla County project con sists of a four-lane freeway for 3.6 miles on U.S. Highway 99 from a point one mile south of the Sis- kiyou County line to the Sacra mento River bridge in Dunsmuir. Killian of Coos Bay. The lodge, the Flyway Goose and Duck Club, is located on the Perry Langer ranch, seven and one-half miles southeast of Dorris. The marshland on the Langer ranch was leased and the club house, which will accommodate eight hunters, has been built since August 1.
