Prepared in two layers, it blends
lime-flavored gelatin with sour
cream, seasonings and chopped
cucumber for the bottom layer.
This is crowned with a top layer
of sliced avocado and grapefruit
sections molded in lemon-flavored
gelatin. Here's a salad that tastes
as good as it looks!
CALIFORNIA JEWEL SALAD
Layer I

H teaspoon salt
1 cup hot water
Grapefruit juice and water

' 1 cup sliced avocado
Dissolve lemon-flavored gelatin
and salt in hot water. Add grape
fruit juice. Chill until slightly
thickened. Then fold in diced grape
fruit and avocado slices. Pour into
a two-quart mold. Chill until al
most firm.

- I cup heavy sour cream -1
cup drained finely chopped
cucumber
Dissolve lime-flavored gelatin
and salt in hot water. Add
vinegar, onion juice, and Worces
tershire sauce. Chill until slightly
thickened. Fold in sour cream,
blending thoroughly. Chill until
firm. Unmold on salad greens. Gar
nish with avocado slice, if desired.
Serve with marinated cooked
shrimp. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
