HENRY SEMON Here's Your Candidate Henry Semon is seeking reelec tion as a Thirtieth District, Klam ath County, representative in the State Assembly. He is 71 years old. a native of Port Clinton, Ohio, and has been engaged in Klamath County farming since 1910. He has been a member of the state house of representatives since 1933. He is a former director of the Klamath County School District, a director and past president of the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Klamath Falls Rotary Club, the grange, and is a past president of the Klamath County Potato Grow ers' Association. He is also a member of the farm bureau and of the Moose and Elks lodges. He is. married and prior to mov ing to Klamath Falls, was engaged in Los Angeles area farming for four years. Semon concludes with say ing that he is well versed and ex perienced in the legislative field, has a thorough understanding of way of life, problems, and im portant economic fields in the county, and will serve the people to the best of his ability if re elected. Frances Skinner and Lillian Hoff man, Klamath County 4-H Club agents, made the award presenta tions and showed a colored movie about 4-H Club work. Leaders who received their serv ice recognition and the clubs they serve are: Earl Wilson and Wayne Fisk, Beef Club: Merle Loosley, Netted Gems (potatoes); Keith Gentry and Emil Tofell, Malin Woolies, (sheep): T. E. Weatherby and Elmont Kenyon, Malin Pork ers (pig); Mrs. Lucile Gray, cook ing club; Mrs. Bill Ramus, sew ing; and Mrs. Philip Blohm and; Mrs. Robert Byrne, knitting. The 4-H clubs for the coming year are now being organized and young people in the community are asked to contact the various lead ers or the 4-H community chair man, Mrs. Blohm, for Information about the projects in which they are interested. Northern Vacation Mrs. Orn Hatton and Mrs. Dora Herwick returned Sunday, October 21, from a week's vacation trip. Mrs Hatton stopped in Spokane to visit with relatives and Mrs. Herwick continued into Grand Forks, Brit ish Columbia to see a sister who lives there. Malin Resident Mrs.' Hubert Morelock attended the wedding of lier nephew, Neal Craig in Al-' bany recently. ' She returned to Medford with relatives where she was met by her husband to re turn home. ' . . On Trip To San Francisco are Mr, and Mrs. Wayne Fisk of Ma lin. Mrs. Fisk's parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. Forrest of Prairie ' City, are staying in the Fisk home. Word has been received of the death of Ed Sevrin, father of Mrs. Rod Detrich of Malin on October 18. Mr. Sevrin lived in Stockton, California and had visited in Ma' lin on several occasions. UN Association Meets Tonight Ross Ragland. president of the Klamath Falls Chapter of the Ore gon United Nations Association. announces that a UN study group is being formed. The first meeting will be held tonight at 8 o'clock in the chamber of commerce rooms. Mrs. Phil Brixner will pre sent tne lirst program. The group will consider and dis cuss the work of the UN, the nine lions of the various agencies, and problems facing the United Na tions at this time, rteguiar month ly meetings will be held. BRANDT, Klamath Falls, was named winner of the Joe College contest last Saturday night during the sophomore Whiskerino at the University of Oregon where he is majoring in pre-law. He is a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, sophomore class representative to the ASUO Senate, member of the Skull and Dagger, sophomore men's honorary, co-chairman of the decorations committee for the Sophomore Whiskerino, radio promotion chairman, is a member of the Pershing Rifles and the ROTC color guard. This is the first time that a Klamath Falls man has been elected by the student body to the office. He is the ion of Mr. and Mrs. Al Brandt, 1345 Pacific Terrace. Brandt faces camera. Rain, Snow Hit Nation By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Blustery weather, with rain, snow and cool air, extended over wide areas from the Dakotas to the western quarter of the coun try today. . An intense storm moved across the plains and brought rain to the northern and central plains with some snow in the west central plains. A fresh storm hit the Far Northwest, bringing more rain to the coastal areas and light snow in some inland sections. But east of the Mississippi River, generally dry weather pre vailed except for light rain along the Middle Atlantic Coast and in southern Florida. The torm in the. plains was followed by 8 surge of cool air and temperatures were 30 degrees low er "than yesterday morning in parts of westerp Nebraska and eastern Colorado. It was below freezing with an inch of snow on the ground at Akron. Colo. Snow fell in areas from western Montana to New Mexico. Falls ranged up to 8 inches at Rock Soldier Takes Tank Joyride MANHE1M, Germany (UP) A U.S. Army private was charged today with taking a 45-ton tank for a joy ride down Germany's Auto bahn superhighway. Military police said Pvt. Walter F. Brown. 20, of caiiente, Ncv., took the M47 tank from Coleman Barracks near Manhcim and frightened motorists along a seven mile stretch of the Autobahn. They said he finally pulled off the high-' way and ripped through two fences anda garden before stoppingat a railroad crossing, where he was arrested.
