Annual Turkey Award Slated WEED The night of November 14 is the time set for the Weed Lions Club annual turkey award event, to be held at the Weed Hip podrome. Many entertainment fea tures are slated in addition to the annual turkey awards event which is the major fund raising project for the local Lions Club. Proceeds go toward the club's community service donation for the year. In the past the club has made possible the flocd-lights tit the American Legion football field: bus-shelters for the Weed school children erected and placed throughout the community; pur chase of a blood-bank refrigera tor: equipment and maintenance of the eed playground when the playground was. first lormed; nam ing and placing street signs throughout Weed: assistance in equipping the community ambu l.mce. and many other commu nity service projects. Former Resident Taken By Death Mrs. Flossie Woods, 61-ycar-old; former resident of Klamath rails, died October 11 in Everett, Wash ington after a lengthy illness. She moved to Everett from Klamath Falls in 1939. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Alarjoric Stough, and grand children of Klamath Falls. Funeral services were October 13 at Everett. Bly Grange Wins Award BLY Oregon State Grange of-q" r:r.iilc hm0 unnnnnppH that Rlv ' Grange 771 has again placed to win a $50 award and an engraved plaque in the 1936 National Grange Sears. Roebuck Foundation Com munity Service contest. Ninety-three Oregon granges en tered the contest, 77 filed final reports, and 11 won awards. Since the community service contest was started in 1948. Bly Grange has won awards on seven different years, totaling over $500. It has been the most consistent winner of any grange in the state. Dynamite Found In A Canal The Klamath Falls Fire Depart ment took 216 sticks of dynamite I from the A Canal near the Hill side Hospital Sunday, reported Fire Chief Roy Rowe today.
