Fire Chief Bill Arzner said the man was asleep in his apartment, a duplex on Center Street, when a fire broke out in the wall between the kitchen and bedroom about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Holmbere was taken to Lake- view Hospital by the Lake County disaster car by the Volunteer crew consisting of Max Larson, a local pharmacist: Don Strong and George Iremonger. Considerable damage was done to the apartment occupied by Holmberg. Uusley usterman r uneral Home is in charge of arrangements. A daughter in Sweden survives. BASIN BRIEFS Chemult Club Holds Meetings CHEMULT The first fall meet ing of the themuil uommunny Club, after the summer recess, was held Wednesday evening. Oc- tobcr 3. Hostesses were Mrs. C. C. Long, Mrs. Huie Knight and Mrs, Hichard Clauson. Mrs. Clauson. club president. has. moved to Klamath Falls, but has signified her willingness to re turn for meetings to finish out her term of office until the annual election in the spring. Plans were discussed for coming club projects. The next event spon sored by the group will be the an nual Halloween party. The chair man will be named soon. The annual Christmas party will be under the auspices of the Che mult Sunday School, led by Mrs. E. Forster of Beaver Marsh. De tails are being worked out. ' Shasta Group Compiles List DUNSMUIR-Siskiyou council of, the Shasta Cascade Wonderland Association voted at its first Octo ber meeting to compile a list of property owners along the banks of the Sacramento River from the Shasta County line to its head waters. The council expects to re quest the bureau of public lands to acquire shoreline properly for recreational use. A similar study will be made of the Klamath River to insure access by sportsmen in years to come. The group went on record con demning the building of private roads into primitive areas. John Reginato, association secretary, cited examples of logging roads being built into California's only remaining wilderness. Adequate access to recreation' areas will be sought and the. state will be asked to provide parking turnouts for use of sportsmen dur ing the extension of the state free way through Siskiyou County. Mrs. Coon is the former Elizabeth Bar ry. . , Short Visit Mrs. Mnry Brown of Redmond spent the weekend in Lakeview visiting with her mother, Mrs. Lora Conn, and her brother. T. R. Conn, and family. Getting Better The condition of Bill Harbison, forest service employe who was injured in a collision last week, is reported as improved. He is still confined to the Lakeview Hospital. Fort Rock Sunday guests of Mrs. Lorena ward, local teacher, were her daushler and family, Mr and Mrs. L. V. Brasseur, .Klamath Falls. Guests this week at the Fort Rnrk home of Mr. and Mrs. How ard Mcfiec are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Doud of Portland. The group went on a camping and hunting trip Thursday to Sunday last week Also in the party were McGee's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. E.
