OREGON PAGE TWENTY ONE KLAMATH FALLS UNIVERSITY WOMEN The main purpose of city plan ning is to keep the family group uppermost in mind was the point emphasized by Architect John Howard when he addressed the Klamath Falls Branch. American Association of University Women. at their first fall meeting Septem ber 15 at Beames Golf and Coun try Club. Speaking on the subject. "Art and the American City," Howard illustrated his talk with colored slides and stressed the importance of patterns being laid out accord ing to the contour of the area, making the must of natural fca- tnrps without ipnnrino thnm "In Klamath Falls," he said, "plan-1 ning is essential due to the rapid! growth." I Chairman of the city planning commission, Howard was intro duced by Patt O'Connor, program chairman. President Mrs. George W. Nel son introduced Mrs. Howard Hall, arts chairman, who presented Carol Tresner, recipient of the AAUW summer art scholarship to the OTI workshop. Carol described the summer session and displayed samples of her work. j Study group chairmen announced plans for their first meetings. The annual rummage sale, October 12 and 13, was announced, proceeds to go to the AAUW scholarship fund. Mrs. Don Zumwalt, music chair man, introduced John Carter who sang several numbers. Accompan ist Bob Emmons also played two piano solos. REBEKAH LODGE Irene Rickman, noble grand of Prosperity Rebekah Lodge No. 104, welcomed members and officers at the regular meetings Septem ber 9 and 20 at the IOOF Hall following the summer recess. On September 9 a chicken nood le dinner for all Odd Fellows and Rebekahs was served by Irene Rickman and Helen McCornack, members furnishing covered dish es. Reports on summer projects showed that members Edith Bar leen, Lorene McCollum, Louise O'Brien, Irene Rickman and Hel en McCornack had been busy with benefit breakfasts, luncheons and parties to raise funds for decorat ing the dirjing room of the hall.' New draperies and a new floor in the dining hall have been provided. Plans were made at the Septem ber 20 meeting for the visit of a Rebekah sister from The Nether lands, Fie Rotgans, who will show films of her country and speak of her experiences, a program sched uled for the evening of October 11 at the IOOF Hall and open to the public. V"--:4 n j CAMP NRE GIRL REUNION The recent gather, ing of Se-Gool-Ge-Hoos-Kungs, a group which has won state recognition, was climaxed with an impressive cere monial on the third and lest night of the important session. Principal; Jerry Ross welcomed the audience and introduced his faculty, after which everyone attending intro duced himself.
