The new ambulance will be housed at the Lonn-Bcll fire sta tion In Weed, the facilities made possible by the Long-Bell Lumber Company. Weed Division. Officials and drivers will be local persons on call 24 hours a day. Weed doctors H. L. A prayer was said by ! Paul Bishop to open the program and Diane Wagner gave a poem. Don McKcnzie. music instructor sang a solo. The program ended 1 with the students sinning Easter i hsmns and Mr. Hewitt giving a j .closing prayer. ' Room 14 won the . Intramural , basketball tournament by defeat ing room 15 by a score of 56-59. Early this week the boys began to turn out for track and basket , ball. Only seven boys turned out for track but the turnout for base ball was better. KJFH honor society Is sending for school pennants to be sold to the students. Orders are being ' taken now. The student body is buying the ' school a gift from the "class of '56. This will be a- new record ; plaver and new records. For the annual spring dance this year there will be chosen a king and queen. FUNERAL SERVICES YREKA Funeral services ' were held Wednesday from Gird-: ner's chapel for Norman Ray-1 mond Dutro, 38. an employe of Fruit Growers Supply Company j Hilt, who was killed in an auto mobile accident near Yreka last j Saturday. Survivors include his! parents. Accounting services needed for the operation of the ambulance have also been offered for hand ling by the Weed Clinic, through the courtesy of the two local doc tors. The lowest possible charge will be made for people of Weed using the ambulance, to provide for the drivers' lime and maintenance on the ambulance. Calls made out side of this area will be charged at the current ambulance rate. Once equipped and insured it is hoped that the ambulance will be self-supporting, but for the intro ductory use the vehicle must lirst be equipped. Equipment needed Includes a red light, siren, stretcher, porta ble stretcher, first aid kit, two blankets, insurance and a resusi tator. Jim Mallory Is serving as sec retary for a Weed community ambulance fund and will accept donations from organizations or Interested persons who wish to do nate toward the ambulance equip ment fund. A complete accounting of the donations will be published when the necessary fund is ful filled. When interviewed this week, the Mallory broihers stated their rea son for giving the ambulance was to assist In saving a life of an In jured or 111 person who may re ceive more prompt atention with the ambulance service. "We also wish to show our ap preciation to the people In this area for their support of our busi ness In Weed, and the ambulance seemed the most worthwhile way to show that esteem to the public " they stated. The. two Mallory brothers have been residents of Weed since 1926. both graduates of the Weed sohoois and veterans of World War II. They purchased the local Chevro let and garage business from their father, R. V. . Mallory in April 1954. Klamath Stock Graded Choice . Twenty-one- of the 26 Klamath County steers shown at the Grand National Junior Livestock Exposi tion March 24-26 at San Francis co's Cow Palace graded choice, and one copped a prime rating The other four collected a good rating. Five Klamath County 4-H and Future Farmers of America mem bers showed steers at the exposi tion. All of the steers were Black Angus., The lone prime rating, highest given at the show, went to Elliott West, son of Gerald West ot Poe Valley. West, who entered a single animal. Is a member of the Bonan za Beef Ciub; led by John Heyden. Roxanne Wilson, daughter of Earl "Wilson of Malin. entered a pen of five, four of which graded choice, the other good. Her brother Harry Wilson also entered a "pen of five, three of which were choice and the others good. Mary Fisk. daughter of Wayne Fisk of Malm, entered a pen of five, four of which graded choice and the other, good. Wilson. Miss Wilson and Miss Fisk are all members of the Malin Beef Club, the co-leaders of which are their fathers. The two FFA entrants were Douglas Fisk. brother of Miss Fisk. and Farrell Wilson, brother of Harry Wilson. Both entered pens of five, and all of their ani mals grpded choice. The prime and choice animals were sold at a special auction on March 28. Klamath County 4-H Agent Francis Skinner estimated that they all brought about two or three 'cents more than the going market at the time. Harold Scoubes, left, manaqer of the store, was on hand to present the eggs to the 20-30 chairman of the event, Mervin Nicholas. All children in the county from toddlers to 12-year olds are invited to participate in the hunt which wil begin at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The club will hava a variety of prizes for the children, Nicholas announced. His talk included Information on the rights of property owners, types of deeds, mortgages and loan.
