It is the first operational plane to be equipped with the new Falcon air-to-air guided missile. The new all-weat'-er tnlercn which will be assigned to Conti nental Air Detensc Cjui.i.i.. HOME ON LEAVE after completing recruit training at Fort Ord, California are these two Klamath Falls soldiers. Pvt. David I. Alexander, left, son of Mr. and Mrs A. D. Alexander, 44IS Peck Drive, has been assigned to the Signal Corps at Camp Gordon, Georgia. Pvt. Edward E. Moorman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Moorman, 1027 Washington, will join the airborne troops at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Both men attended Klam ath Union High School prior to their enlistment in December. John Day Dam Hearing Hinted THE UNIVERSITY SINGERS, a mixed chorus of 48 voices from the University of Oregon, will appear in Klamath Falls on Thursday, March 22 at 8 p.m. in Mills School auditorium. This or ganization, founded in 1945, is directed by Max D. Risinger. The program will consist of sacred choral compositions, works of the great choral masters, folk songs and spirituals. The "Collegians", a male quartet, also will appear with the chorus. A variety of duets and solos will be included on the program. The musical event is being sponsored by the Klamath Union High School a capplla choir. Coon, (R-Ore) said Wednesday he has been promised a hearing by a House Public Works Subcommittee on his controversial bill for local federal construction of John Day Dam. - He told a newsman the assur ance had been given him by Rep. Davis (D-Tenn), subcommittee chairman, but that no date has been set. The Coon bill, endorsed by Presi dent Elsenhower, would permit construction of the huge Columbia River dam Jointly by the federal government and local utility groups. Local Interests would be required to pay that portion of the dam's cost allocable to power estimated at 90 per cent of the dam's 300-million-plus cost with the govern ment paying costs attributable to flood control, navigation and other non-power uses. In return for their money, the utilities would receive 50-year con tracts for the dam's power output In proportion to their share In the program. The bill has been strongly op posed by Sens.
