They saw the Pa ciflc International Auto show. O. C. Johnson of Langell Valley is recovering from surgery at Klamath Valley Hospital. Guy HHson who has completed basic training at Fort Old and now goes to Maryland, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hitson of Langell Valley. N. E. Berry Death In Peru Told Mr. N. E. Berry. 69. one ol the principal owners of the Klam ath Falls Medical-Dental Building, died March 2 in Lima, Peru. He had been in Lima for a week and was beginning an extended South American tour. A cable from the U S. Ambassador in Lima to Mr. Berry's relatives in Seattle. Wash ington did not cive cause of death Mr. Berry was horn in Walcr- ville. Kansas in 1887 and was a member of the class of 1908 at the U.S. Naval Academy. Annapolis. He attended Lawrence University. Lawrence. Kansas after leaving the Naval Academy receiving .1 degree in law from the Kansas scnool Mr. Berry practiced lew In Topeka, Kansas until 1922 when he moved to Seattle where he en tered the banking business. In 1929 Mr. Beny and Seattle associates purchased the site of the old Central School at Ninth and Main streets und planned to build a bank building, hotel, apart ment house and garage on the site. The Oregon Bank Buildirg. now the Medical-Dental Building, was the only one of the four buildings to be erected belore the business crash of 1929-30 halted further con struction. A tunnel under Ninth Street which was to have connected the four buildings is still in existence. The Seattle business man Is sur vived by his former wife and close business associate, Gerda Ander son Berry, whom he married in 1935 in Klamath Falls. Other survivors include a son N. E. Berry Jr., Los Angeles, Cal ifornia: a daughter, Mrs. Natalie Pinkerton. Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Marv Hocker, Kansas, and a brotn er John L. Berry, Kansas: also four grandchildren. Seattle funeral arrangements are pending arrival of the body by air from Peru. Gifts Home Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Gift returned to Langell Valley on February 28 after a two months trip east. Mrs. Gift s health is much Improved. Ben Nork of Langell Valley Is ill with pneumonia. Meeting of the Midland Grange, p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Sum mers School cafeteria. I .. .lLJ Xim i annul Fall Breaks Skier's Leg DUNSMUIR Jack Samuelson, director of the Dunsmuir Recrea tion District, fractured his lower lett les late Saturday afternoon while skiing at snowman a run. nr was given iirst aid by the Ski Patrol and then taken to the Mount Shasta Hospital for treatment. Later Saturday evening he was taken to the Southern Pacific Hos pital in San Francisco. Vandenberfz's court on a rape charge, was reported Monday to have escaped from a maximum security ward at Oregon State Hos pital in Salem. Under the mandatory provisions of a law passed at the last session of the legislature. Judge Vanden berg sent Gordon to the hospital for psychiatric examination prior to passing sentence. According to a report from Salem, Gordon and Robert James Landingham. - alleged car thief from Multnomah County, escaped through a laundry chute. During Frye's nine years as manager here, he has been active in civic affairs.
