Yellow Cab of Medford in a non-conference game. Theresounding triumph by coach Wally Palmberg's' hoopsters was the only action of the week for the Mile High Campus, although the Oregon Tech junior varsity under the coaching of Jim Mc Oown will trade baskets with Las sen Junior College tonight and Saturday evenh-.g at OTI. The next cage action for the Owls is slated to unfold next Tues day night at Ashland as the Owls and Red Raiders of Southern Ore gon clash for their fourili and final Oregon Collejiate Conference basketball meeting of the year. At the present time, OTI holds a 2-1 margin In the series thN season. Then next Friday and Saturday, Palmberg's Owls will host Ore3on College of Education in the final home and conference play of the season for the Mile High Club. Thursday evening at Oregon Tech's gymnasium, the O.w 1 s picked off a win, as many expect ed they would,' but did it in a fash ion of the c imin Karc.i winas. Little of the respected AAU power that was expec.?d frcni the C o bies failed to materialize as the Owls dominated the full-game's play. Only at one point within the first five minutes of play did the Owls take a back sor.t to the Cabbies from Medford. With exact ly five minutes gone in the con test. Bill McLean, former SOC standout, pumped in a twa-pointer rom Jar out with a push shot tc give Yellow C?.b a 4-3 lead. But a ringer from the field by Ted Fischer put the Owls in front 5-4, a lead they never lost. Sparked by the driving of Fisch er and Bobby Whitman the Owl offense bubbled up to a 32-17 half time lead, as added backboard help came from the two "Jumping Johnnys" Foster and McCuich eon and Jerry Fasteen gave the Owls near domination1 of both backboards. In the second half; Foster and Fischer piloted a scoring drive that pushed the Owls to the front 43-21 with 15:57 remaining to play. With the second period halfway gone by the boards, Tech man aged a 49-23 lead. Fischer pumped 16 points through the nets to sweep the eve ning's scoring honors, 12 of which came in the first half to send the Techers out in front with a good cushion. Bill Werner of Yellow Cab fired in 11 pints to lead his club, while McCutcheon added 10 or the Owls. All 10 of the Oregon Tech players to see action broke Into the scoring column as Palm berg made good use of his bench during the tussle. Tonight's Oregon Tech Jayvee Lassen Junior College game will start at 8 o'clock. Gun Clubbers Eye Award Sn Sunday Shoot Fete Driscoll una John Catalano are out to collect the hardware this Sunday as the Klamath Gun 'Club slates another day of trap shooting activities at the Wocus Traps. Starting time 1 10:30. and the public is invited to take part in the day's action. Driscoll and Catalano each have two legs on the Klamath Sports men's Trophy, and a win in Sun day's handicap, shoot for either one would sew up the award. Carl Olney, Jim' WiKcnback. Earl Kent, Nelson Reed, Rod Smith and John Lichlenstern each have one leg towards the Sportsman's Trophy. Last week, Wilbur Smith gained his second leg on the Nelson Reed New Shooters Trophy with a 20 out of 25 score for the first 25 birds. Another win by Smith would as sure him of the Reed award. Main NCAA Reveals TV Plans KANSAS CITY i-The NCAA has come up wah the I9b6 version of its football television program, and in all essentials it looks just about like last, year's offering. Tncre a:e to be eight national Game of the Week telecasts and five regional TV showings. The 56 format was disclosed by Walt Byers, executive direc tor of the National Collegiate Ath letic Assn. It represents the plans of the NCAA's Television Com mittee. Ratification by the mem bership is expected to be mere formality. Following closely the outlines ot last year's television setup, the 1956 plan specifies lour dales- Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Dec. 1 and national telecasts. An additional four dates are left open, to be selected by sponsors oi the program. The remaining five Saturdays are set aside for intra-distrlct telecasting. Member institutions will again be allowed to make their own arrangements. Once again, a member will be limited to appear only on a na tional and once on a district tele- cas. or twice on district ' show ings. Tjast year, NCAA refusal to per mit telecast by certain stations of the sell-out Notre Dnme-Iowa and Oklahoma - Texas games caused an uproar. Under the 1956 plan again these telecasts would be banned. Differences in the '56 setup com pared with the previous year in clude: 1. A game played more than 400 miles away frpm the visiting team's home may be telecast back to the team's home TV area. 2. Sell-out games may be tele cast to the home TV area of the home and visiting teams In the TV locale of the game if it Is played off-cainpus. 3. A team may participate twice in a telecast not released in its home NCAA district and these telecasts will not be counted as appearances. . Small colleges will be. exempt from all appearance restrictions.
