LEE SHAFER Church Gets New Pastor Lee Shafcr of Phoenix, Oreoon, has been called to the pastorate of the Suburban Christian Church, He is a native of Medford, a grad' iinte of the Phoenix High School In 1945 and a graduate of San Jose Bible College, San Jose, California, with a batchelor of theology de gree In 1953. For one year, 1846-1947, he served with the milltary-police nt the Hanford, Washington, atomic headquarters. He was married to Jaunlla McDonald, Wasilla, Alaska, at Anchorage in 1949. Mr. Shafer ministered to the Church of Christ In Phoenix. Ore gon, from 1954 until receiving the call from the Suburban Christian Church of this city. The family is residing at the parsonage, 4669 Denver Avenue with their three children, Douglas, 4, Lela, 2 years old and Randall, 7 months. A fellowship dinner was held re cently by the congregation to wel come the pastor and .his family. Roll call was answered by list ing "My Favorite National Park" and as far as the Gilchrist women are concerned, Crater Lake Na tional Park leads all others. After a short business meeting the program chairman, Mrs, Verne I. Brader, Introduced Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thompson of 58 Cafe who showed movie film of an extensive vacation tour of the United States across country and south to Flor ida. Pictures were taken of almost all the famous spots on this trtit. The highlight of the film was a movletaken of the local country with the swan at Summers Lake, the deer on 'the winter feeding grounds at Fort Rock, Salt Creek on Highway 59 in winter, and the Willamette SKI Run during an in ternational ski tournament. We found that our own country Is beautiful. ' Sides were chosen for tree study for the next meeting with Miss Houston captain on the study for Douglas fir and Mrs. Vern Rochek as captain for study of ponderosa pine.
