To Be
"SLUE CRUTCH DAY" will be itaged by She Pep Peppers and
Future Nurses of Klamath Union High School Saturday. The
girl students will be identified by blue March of Dimes arm
bands. They will present a miniature blue crutch to each donor
to the March of Dimes. Wally Wunder, Teens Against Polio
chairman for Klamath County, said today that although the
development of the Salk vaccine is a milestone in the war
against polio, the war still rages against the dread disease.
Funds are vitally needed to takecare of the 68,000 cases from
past years and the 30,000 additional cases in 1955, the 'leans

Nurses and Carolyn Nancarrow, presiden of Pep Peppers
will direct Blue Crutch Day. The students will be in downtown
Klamath Falls all day Saturday.
FBI To Conduct Special Conference On Auto Thefts
J. F. Santoiana Jr., special

office of the Federal Bureau of In
vestigation, announced today that
an FBI Law Enforcement Confer
ence on auto theft will be held on
April 12 in Eugene. Additional
conferences will be held April It
at Portland and April M at Pendle
ton.
Santoiana said more than 100
conferences of this type have been
scheduled this year by the FBI on
a regional basis throughout the

were given S2.S35.556 Thursday as
their 19 per cent share of state
highway revenues during the last
three months of 1955.
The apportionment, made by
Secretary of State Earl T. Ncwbry,
Is based on the number of vehicles
registered in each county.
The state collected $14,923,919
from highway sources, including
$9,541,471 from gasoline taxes, $3,-
. 21,660 in -truck transportation
taxes, $2,008,740 from sales of license-
plates, and $127,117 from
traffic fines.

Tuesday night the Trojans .of
fered the Malm Mustangs stiff
competition in a non-league game
held on the Mustangs home floor.
The score was topped at 70-64 win
in Mustangs favor. At half time
tliev had to settle for a tie of
34-34. The third quarter viewed
Malin with a 10 point lead but the
fighting Trojans narrowed this gap
to a three basket loss.

The seriousness of this violation:
is highlighted by the fact that in'
iuj4 an estimated 315,40 automo
biles were stolen In the United
States. Although M per cent ub-
sequently were located, at the'
year's end ia,5 cars, valued at
more than 12 million dollars, still
were unrecovered. In 1953, an esti
mated 236,630 cars were stolen and
83. per cent were recovered, leav
ing 13,81$, valued at some 14 mil
lion dollars. In 1952. the net loss
was 16,364 automobiles valued at
more than 17 million dollars.
Part of this decrease may he
the result of a similar series of
conferences held during 1952. Dur
ing that year there were 131 auto
theft conferences throughout the
country which were attended Hy
8.707 individuals representing 3,121
agencies, mis coming year a con

tern as the 1952 series and also
others held during the succeeding
years.
There were 133 conferences in
1953 on thefts from Interstate ship
ment. These were attended by
