Kulbnght of the Senate Banking Committee today pledged "immediate consideration" of leg' Islation to provide damage Insur ance lor future flood victims, The administration sent a three billion dollar federal-stale Insur ance program to Congress yester day. A stack of other flood insur ance bills also have been Intro duced. All aim at protecting Individu als against the devastating losses suneren during recent Hoods California and the Northeast. Pulbrlght said his committee will discuss the proposals at its first regulur meeting Monday and set a time lor public hearings, The Arkansas Democrat said he hopes hearings can be held later this month so a bill can be re- ported out for action by February. President Eisenhower in his State of the Union Message yester day called for an experimental program of flood-damage Insur ance. Sen. Prescolt Bush (R-Conn promptly Introduced the admlnls tration bill in the Senate. Hen Jesse Wolcoll (R-Mlch) introduced similar bill in the House. The administration bill calls for: I. A live-year "experimental program of flood insurance and re-insurance conducted by the fed eral government in cooperation wun tne states and private Insur ance companies. Flood damage A'ould include coastal as well as Inland flooding. 2. Individuals, Including small businessmen and manufacturers, would be able to take out Insur ance policies to a maximum of $250,000. The policies would con tain a deductible clause specify ing (300 plus 10 ner cent of the claim will be deductible from damage payments. 3. The individual would pay 60 per cent of the insurance premi um, the stale 20 Der cent and the federal government the remaining io per cent, nie federal govern ment would absorb all administra tive costs. 4. Flood insurance totaling si 000,000.000 could be Issued and the President empowered to authorize an additional one billion dollars. 5. The federal government would re-lnsure flood Insurance Issued by private companies a total of 100 million dollars so they could ex tend their coverage. The policy as adopted will ba by permit only ana win allow over night camping by groups or Indi viduals for educational or recrea tional purposes as long as 'it does not conflict with the primary land uses or Jeopardize wildlife or prop erly. All permits shall ba issued by the area superintendents under the following conditions: The camping site and period of use shall be designated on the permit; Permit tee shall agree to maintain the camp site In a sanitary and untu tored condition and observe regula tions for the prevention of fires and the safeguarding of lives and liroperty; Permits shall be revoo able In the event of any violation of laws or regulations pertaining to the area In question. No permits will be required for camping on the Wenaha, White Riv er, and North Fork John Day River nig game winter ranges for hunt ing or fishing purposes. . i Motorist Report. Two Missing Hubcaps Two hubcaps were taken from an auto parked on the lot of the Motor Mart on Seventh Street. Klamath Falls police reported Tnursaay. The theft reportedly took place sometime: after t:J0 p.m. Tues day. A side mirror was removed from an auto parked on Klamath .venue near Seventh Street some time between s-10 p.m. Tuesday, police said, The auto was owned by Hans Hansen, 4413 Laverne.
