Weather Bureau Plans Transfer PORTLAND 11 The Weather Bureau will transfer its upper-air data-taking from Portland to Mc Nary Field in Salem next, June. Weather Bureau officials said six persons would be added to the Weather Bureau staff of five at McNary Field. Stratosphere-penetrating radio sonde balloons have been used In the operation for eight years at Portland, where the Air Force con ducted the observations. The data collected at Salem will also be made available to the Air Force. No reason was given for the change from Portland to Salem.
