Many TV producers can win themselves a few days vacation by dusting off last years show for another performance. Audiences, according to the fan mail, get sen timental and like to watch the pro grams again. Jack Webb, hero of "Dragnet." appears tonight f o r the third Christmas in a filmed story about the theft of a statue from a church. ''People asked for it again so we used II." Webb explained. "We think the story is appropriate for Christmas police show. There s no definite crime, but it has the 'Dragnet' flavor." Webb is also proud of the fact that the 1993 airing of the show marked the first time color film was seen on coast-to-coast televi sion. That first year the faces came out green and the scenery red, but by now the color trans mission has Improved. "W make a new color print ol the film every year to keep up with new developments In color TV transmission," Webb adds. As the highway safety or ganizations and law enforcement agencies point out, the courtesy, care, and common sense you show count more than anything else. You can drive any car safely or foolishly. The second thing is the car itself. All cars are safer today. That's shown by the number of accidents in relation to the number of miles passenger cars are driven. The figure's been going down steadily and sharply. Chevrolet engineers and designers have always made your safety a major consid eration, introducing many such features as the all-steel top, safety plate glass all around, and windshield-wide defrosters into the low-price field.
