Granquist Issued the lollowing statement today to xt mind employers that social secur ity taxes apply to cash wages paid w every iarm worker to whom the employer pays $100 orOnore cash wages during the year 1955. The taxes (two per cent employer tax and two per cent employe taxi ap ply only to cash wages paid to covered farm workers. Every farm employer who owes these taxes must file a return on Form 943, and pay the taxes, on or before January 31, 1956. Farm employers should file their re turns on time hi order to avoid the penalty which may be charged for late filing. - ? Any employer of covered farm workers who has not already reg istered with the district director's office should do so at once. The registration form SS-4 can be ob tained from any internal revenue or social security office. The dis trict director will mall the nec essary return forms and instruc tions to all registered tmployers.
