Military Resumes Plane Search HAMILTON FIELD (UP Search ers hoped today for a break in the weather so they could look for a light plane missing since last Thursday on a flight from Reno to Oakland with two men aboard. The plane was not reported miss ing until Sunday night. Since then, a series of storms prevented a full-scale search. Aboard the 'plane, a single-en-gined Beechcraft Bonanza, were Robert C. Holsten, 29. of San Fran cisco, a pilot for an Oakland chart er service, and R. Emmett Wood Sr., 46, engineer for an Oakland construction service. Olficers of the 41st Air Rescue Squadron at Hamilton Air Force Base said two twin-engined am phibians and a helicopler searched the Sacramento Valley and the Coast Range as weather permitted yesterday. However, bad weather prevented a search of the high mountains. Missing Men Found Tuesday ROSEBURG (fl Wally Mentzer i and Frank Guse, missing over 'night in. the snow-covered King Mountain region, were found Tues day, slowly backing their truck down the road. They explained they ran Into heavy snow drifts and were unable to turn the truck around. They hiked four miles to a cabin but found it locked and spent the night In a big storage box. Next morning they hiked back to the truck and were slowly back ing down the mountain when searchers found them. ' They were carrying microwave equipment to the mountain top for the Pacific Telephone and Tele graph Co. when they were halted by Monday's storm. V PTA NEWS PELICAN PTA By Mrs. Travis Miles "Father's Night," was a big event at Pelican School November 30. Many parents and friends came to visit the rooms which were open for inspection from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A regular meeting was held In the auditorium at 1:30 p.m. with President Mrs. Herschel Grose close presiding. Mike McClurg led the flag sa lute. Francis Mathews, county Juve nile officer, spoke on "Juvenile De linquency" in Klamath County. Ways and Means Chairman, Mfs. Archie McClurg, reported the rum mage sale would be held Decem ber 14. It had been scheduled in November but had to be cancelled because of bad weather. The prize rummage was given to Mr. Strodes fifth grade. Reports were given by Mrs. Nel Jo Pieruccini, membership chair man, and Mrs. Fred Kring. by laws chairman. Rod Groshong thanked the' PTA members for the money given to purchase warm up Jackets, for the athletic squads. Charles McLin said the Christ mas program would be given De cember 10. ' Mrs. Merrill's room, won room count. The special prize was won by Mrs. Lilly Kaszycki. Pies aud fancywork were sold after the meeting. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Leigh Fenning's and Mrs. Carql Whetstone's first grade room mothers.. Don Adams, local USAF recruiter. ; Glenn J. Taylor, son of Ml. and Mrs. Jonn R. Taylor. 815 North Ninth Street, and Lawrence H. Sykes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam T. Hooks, 1310 Lookout Street, both enlisted In the USAF for a four-year period. The two young men enlisted un der the "Buddy" system which guarantees that they will be m the same .flight throughout basic train ing. . They are at present taking basic training at Parks Air Force Bust. California. Capitol Xmas Tree To Go Up WASHINGTON ( Tile White House Christmas tree a Black hills spruce 65 feet tall with a trunk two feet thick at the base goes up today tn President's Park. A gift from the people of South Dakota, the 65-year-old evergreen is scheduled to arrive by rail. A steel scaffolding 70 feet tall will be erected around the tree. From this, it will take about a half dozen workers three days to decorate the three. They will use 8,000 lights and ornaments. On Dec. 18, at precisely S p.m., President Eisenhower will light the tree by 'throwing a switch at his Gettysburg home.
