Band Festival Attracts Interest Tlie Honor Band and Chorus Festival to be held In Pelican Jbourt, Klamath Union High School, Saturday ' evening, December 3, Ms attracting a lot ot Interest in "the cities of Lake and Klamath -tounties and Northern California, Announced Andrew Loney, direc- tor of music education in the city Schools, today. Students were selected for the band and chorus on the basis of nheir proficiency and interest in itirther music work. Both groups vill be conducted by a nationally Htnown director. W. H. Cub Scouts ol Den 1, Faclt 4, under the leadership of Mrs. Joe Mstlick Jr. led the flag salute. Mrs, Barnes introduced Mrs Bert Hegler, new program chair man, who replaces Mrs. Jo Leon ard, Mrs. Hegler in turn intro duced Kristian Qtppo and his son Jon who presented several must cal selections. Rosalyn Rand, Mills School music teacher accompanied them. Mrs. John Putnam gave a re port on the fun frolic which was held at Mills School Halloween evening. Mrs, Amos Burnett, membership chairman, stated that Emilte Hal deman and Mrs. Julia Cullen were high in the membership drive for PTA, Miss Haldeman had a 100.3 score and Mrs, Cullen ,74. Mrs. Paul Stewart, is new co- chairman lor the savings stamo program. : - James Young, assistant princi pal of Mills School, explained toe coming vacation dates to parents. Thanksgiving vacation will be No vember 24 ana 35. Christmas va cation will be December 24 to Jan uary 2 inclusive. Mrs. Clifford Kenyon asked par ents to send old games to school to be used during the noon hour when students must stay inside due to winter weather, , Mrs. Dean Miller, school nurse, introduced Dan Campbell who is a psychiatric social worker for Klamath County, Campbell then introduced film entitled, "Pre face to A Life." This was an ex cellent film about- two people who had different plans for their child therefore leaving the child confused and unsure of himself. The special prise was won by Mrs. William Fierson. Room count was won by Mrs, Ruth Huf faker, teacher of the lower grades and Mrs. Ruth Betasert, teacher of the upper grades.
