One source close lo the Godfrey show said that Puck had set the pot to boiling last, December when iie became engaged to Miss Mar lowe, Puck, once the rlqht-hand man of Godfrey, hod his duties whittled away after tha: point. Apprehensive about . public re action, Air Secretary Donald A. Quarles said the new planes will not be "supra - natural or myster ious." They will be manned, if manned at all, by "normal" earth- men. Thev will obey natural laws. The public will be informed about ihem within security limits. Two of the new planes are ine Ryan vertical take-off and landing jet and the disc shaped Jet built by Avro of Canada. The Ryan plane, having delta or triangular wing. Is due to fly at any time from , Edwards Air Force Base. Calif. The Avro plane, long dubbed a flying saucer, Is under develop ment and no flight time is knuwn. Quarles emphasized that other countries also can develop such planes, distinguished chiefly by their ability to rise and land with out runways. As for those mysterious saucers. the Air Force said in a 31fi-pagc scientific study that "no evidence" of the existence of such things was lound. Investigating methods are eood now, It said, that only three percent of this year's sight ings are unexplained. Quarles said that no objects like those ponularly called saucers have flown over this country. None of the so - called saucers "were, in fact aircraft of foreign origin." Hp was sure the unknown three per cent were conventional phe nomena or illusions.
