Man Charged
With Murder
TOWSON. Md. W-An auto Plan'
workef was cnarged with murder
today and an Army sergeant and
a waitress were accused of being
accessories In the slaying of John
I. . Adams, key figure In a six-mllllon-doilar
numbers raid.
Baltimore County police said the
39-year-old victim was strangled
for his money and that the murder
weapon apparently was a "worn'
an's flocking."
They said they hi.d located the
$1,000 Adams reportedly was car
lying when he disappeared a week
ago last night.
Police Chief Hamilton R. Atlcln
son said Pedro Flnley Crooms,
S3-year-o;d auto plant worker, wai
charged with the murder.
Atkinson said Helen Jefferson,
30, and Sgt, Robert Palmer, sta

chanted with "being accessories
after the fact to the murder."
Palmer was Identified as a former
UCLA premedlcal student who has
a wife and children In Texas.

home two waitresses who woikcd
in his father's night club at Tur
ner's stctlcn. His body was found
last Saturday In a thicket along

of Baltimore.
His hands were tied, his head
bad been bashed In and he had
seen garroteo.
