Libray Gains Volumes By CAROLE HORN One thousand new volumes have been added to the fast-growing stock of books In Klamath Union High School's library. A grond total of 8.000 books, magazines and periodicals are currently available. Mr. Roy Tidwell, librarian, and assistant - librarian Marv Lou O'Connor will be assisted this year by 80 students and Mrs. Zumwalt, the new assistant - librarian. Languages Offering Course In 'Second-Year German' -I BY MAUREEN GRIFFITH NROTC Gets Richard Clark BV SHARON O'NEIL Richard "Dick" Clark, graduate of Klamath Union High's '55 class. has received his orders to report i to Oregon State College as a j midshipman in the Naval Reserve Officer's Training Corps, accord ing to Mr. Charles Carlson, KUHS principal. Clark, who is a brother of Nancy Clark, competed with 30-, 000 other candidates in the nation wide Navy college aptitude test last December. A hish academic standing in the test further quali fied him for further processing and the selection for an appoint ment to the NROTC by the state selection committee. When Clark completes this col lege training, he will be com missioned as an ensign in the United Spates Navy, or a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. ONE OF KLAMATH Union High's most experienced in structors, Mr. Don Ross, has resumed his mathematical post again this year. Mr. Ross has taught all forms of math ematics at KUHS with the ex ception of trigonometry. His vast experience also Includes mechanical drawing instruc tion. Currently, he is assisting Mr. Wendell Smith as a coun- f Second year German is cur i rently being taught at Klamath Union High School under the super i vision of Mr. Joseph Keuter, Eng l lish and language instructor, i Filtcen students are enrolled for the subject. The course will al- ternate with first-year German. Mr. Keuter is a University of I Oregon graduate and has spent his entire teaching career of seven years at Klamath Union High. Her i experience at KUHS is 15 years. 3 She spends her summers instruct M lng at KUHS. j Mrs. Hoffman is an accomplished 'aitSf Pamter. and is well-known lor her pueuc worm,. i.asi spring sne aa dressed a language group in beattle, and her speech was so Faculty Added To Girls' PE By LINDA GREGORY Miss Ella Redkey and Mrs. Ma rie Jolinson, both newcomers to Klumath Union High School this year, are both additions to the KU Girls' physical Education Depart ment. They are replacements for Mrs. Viola Hunsaker, who resigned because of ill health. The new teachers Join Mrs. Janet McGin nis and Mrs. Sylvia Tucker. Many activities have been scheduled for this year's classes. The first two weeks of physical education activity saw the ad vanced swimming classes at work. On the agenda lor freshman and sophomore girls are hockey, soc cer and speedball. Junior and senior girls will play touch football. A water festival lor the coming summer has been planned ui which the PE swim ming classes will take part. Two hundred sophomore girls are enrolled in PE classes. KLAMATH UNION HIGH'S Assistant-Librarian Wary Lou O'Connor is back at her duties after vacation this summer in San Francisco. Prior to beginning her vaca tion, Miss O'Connor attended Portland State College, where she enrolled in a six weeks' practice teaching course.
