Not Guilty Plea
DUNSMUIR. Don Basham of
Dunsmuir has pleaded not guilty
In Dunsmuir Justice Court to
charge of hit and run driving and
jury trial date has been set by
Judge A. A. Smith for September
14.
Charges stem from an accident
on August 21 in which Theo Bas
sett of Weed, traveling south or
Highway 99, said his car was side-
swiped by a northbound car which
kept on traveling. Another north
bound auto jotted down a license
number which turned out to be
that of Basham's car.
Basbam asked for a jury trial.

was no lire, however. McNelly told

king. No statement has been made
tu date by Melvln Solelti, Weed's
first spaghetti ruler who conceded
to Barr along with six other con
testants in last year's contest.
Entries may still be made at the
Santlni Shoppe with Mrs. Ralph
Santinl, chairman of the event who
will also prepare the spaghetti.
The contest will be held Sunday
night, September 11. at 6 p.m. on
the Main Street platform.
The festival will start Saturday
morning with a special Kiddie
Parade which begins at 11 a.m.
No entry blanks are required in
this year's parade and children of
all agea are Invited to enter their
pets, hobbles, decorated bicycles
or wagons or come dressed up in
gay, comic, or carnival attire.
Cash prizes will be awarded and
judging will be based on originali
ty, color and humor.
The parade will assemble at
Grove Avenue and Main Street at
10:45 a.m. Saturday and will pro
ceed north on Main Street, end
ing at the Main playground.
