Mr. Hoff man told us how to treat our corn with sweel oil. He said to just put a drop inside the silk of each ear. we asKed Mr. Hoffman how we could slow cabbage down to keep it coming off all at once. He told us how to do It. He said to twist the cabbage In the ground. Refreshments were served after the meeting was adjourned. Jim McClay. After they were fed and watered most of us went honje. Sunday v.e arrived at the fair grounds ouite early, and at 10:30 we had church services in the show arena. After caring for fur animals we were taken home. The 22nd. we arrived at the barns at 6 a.m. Mrs. Johnson took us m. This was the day the Wocus Club had barn duty. That is, we had to take the old straw and rake the aisles. This was a lot of fun The Berkshires were then judged at b a.m., Larry Johnson was the first to show his pig. Then Donald Ive showed his Hainp and took a ribbon. Allan Pennington followed, showing his Duroc. Later in the afternoon the show ing of tne ' Junior uuilts" fol lowed. Grace Estrada took In her Beikshlre first, taking a ribbon. She was followed by Mike Mc- ciurg snowing his Hampsniie. He took a ribbon. . Last Laura Estrada and 1 showed our Landrace, each of us taking a ribbon. With the judging over, the day came to a conclu sion. The last day of the fair was probably the most picturesque. At 10 a.m. many of the 4-H members entered the "Junior Judging Con test." Each group had a gioup leader to whom wo gave our judg ing card after each class. The classes were market hogs, guilts, fat lambs, Hampshire sheep. Here, ford steers, and Angus steers. The person or persons getting a 600 per cent, because of the six class es, would either get a free trip to the state fair or the Pacific Inter national, The barbecue for the member? began at 4:30 p.m. I'd like to say that the barbecue was probably the blRgest the Rotary Club has ever had before. It Is estimated that there were 1.800 people. The barbecue was followed by the pa rade of members past the grand stand. Alter this the auction o( the market animals was held In the arena. With the auction over the fair had come to an end. I know every one of the mem bers were very satisfied that the fair was such a success, yet a little sad that It had to end so soon. Until next year. Stephanie Rnnolto, Newa Reporter 20-Month-Old Girl Drowns In Ditch GRANTS PASS I, Cathryn Jennings, 20 months, drowned in an Irrigation ditch near-her home three miles east of here Thursdav. Her parents, Mr. and Mra. Hom er Jennings, said she always liked to follow some goats 'hey keep and apparently trailed them to the wa ter, where ahe fell In. The parents returned home after a brief absence and, finding her gone, followed footprints to the ditch.
